Office Chair Backrest Installation

Admin October 22, 2026

The installation steps for the office chair backrest are as follows:

  1. Install the backrest rod
Use medium-sized screws (the specifications need to be confirmed according to the product manual) to fix the backrest rod. Note that the groove on the rod must face upwards. This step provides basic support for subsequent connections. If the direction is incorrect, it may lead to structural instability or the inability to insert the tray.

  2. Connect the rod to the tray
Insert the installed rod into the hole in the tray and tighten the matching nut. The tray is a core connecting component between the backrest and the seat cushion. Ensure that the rod is fully inserted and the nut is tightened to prevent looseness during use. For some models, it is necessary to fix the tray to the bottom of the seat cushion in advance with four short screws. This step can be carried out simultaneously with the installation of the rod.

  3. Connect the armrests to the backrest/seat cushion

    • If the backrest is directly connected to the armrests, use 4 screws M6*25mm for fixation.
    • If the armrests are connected to the seat cushion and involve the backrest support structure, then 4 screws M6*30mm are required.
The screw specifications must strictly match the model requirements. Screws that are too long or too short may damage the threads or affect the structural strength.
  4. Install the headrest (optional)
For some models, the headrest serves as an extension of the backrest and needs to be fixed with 2 screws M6*25mm. Before installation, confirm that the headrest adjustment function is compatible with the backrest to avoid inability to use due to size mismatch.

Precautions:

  • Model differences: Different brands or series of office chairs may adopt different screw specifications (such as M620mm, M635mm, etc.) or connection methods (such as snap-fit, pin-type). Be sure to refer to the product manual.
  • Tool preparation: It is recommended to use an electric screwdriver to improve efficiency. When operating manually, control the torque to avoid slipping or over-tightening, which may cause material deformation.
  • Safety inspection: After installation, shake the backrest to test its stability and confirm that there is no looseness or abnormal noise before use.

If problems such as mismatched screw holes or missing components occur during the installation process, stop the operation immediately and contact after-sales service. Do not force assembly to avoid damaging the product.
