Repair Method for Damage Under Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

The repair method for damage under an office chair should be selected based on the extent and type of damage. Details are as follows:

I. Repair of Damaged Chair Fabric or Seat Cushion Cover

  1. Accurately Assess the Extent of Damage

    • Tiny cracks or fissures: Apply acrylic resin directly and dry it with a hairdryer for curing.
    • Slightly larger cracks or holes: Place a piece of sturdy fabric (such as denim or cotton) slightly larger than the damaged area underneath the damage, and apply special repair adhesive to press and fix it.
    • Small-area damage with neat edges: If you have the necessary skills, you can use thread of a similar color for fine stitching.
    • Relatively large damaged area but concentrated in one position (such as edge wear): Perform local stitching or replace the chair fabric.
    • Severe or excessively large damage: The entire chair fabric or seat cushion cover needs to be replaced.
  2. Prepare Tools and Materials

    • Tools: Disassembly tools (screwdrivers, hammers, or pry bars), measurement and cutting tools (soft tapes, rulers, scissors, tailor's chalk, or water-soluble pens), fastening tools (heavy-duty staplers, sewing needles and threads), and auxiliary tools (brushes, sandpaper).
    • Materials: New fabric (selected according to the chair's style and use), adhesives (strong glue or professional interior adhesives), fillers (high-density foam or polyester cotton), and cleaning agents.
  3. Get to Work

    • Simple repairs: After cleaning the damaged area, choose the adhesive or stitching method according to the size of the crack.
    • Replacing the seat cushion cover: Purchase a seat cushion cover similar in color and texture to the original one, or cut materials to make a new cover according to the original dimensions. When making it, refer to professional guides or instructional videos to ensure firm adhesion.

II. Maintenance of Damaged Bottom Plate of an Executive Chair

  1. Check the Extent of Damage

    • If the wheels are loose, try tightening the nuts; if the bottom plate is severely damaged (such as being broken or deformed), it needs to be replaced.
  2. Determine the Material and Model

    • Before maintenance, confirm the material (such as plastic or metal) and model of the bottom plate to select suitable replacement parts.
  3. Disassemble the Seat

    • Use a screwdriver or wrench to remove the nuts and bolts, and separate the bottom plate from the chair. Avoid damaging other components during the operation.
  4. Clean and Inspect

    • After removal, thoroughly clean the damaged part and check for any hidden damage.
  5. Replace or Repair the Bottom Plate

    • In case of severe damage, replace it with a brand-new part, paying attention to matching the specifications and model when purchasing; if only the wheels are loose, use a wrench to adjust the nuts until they are tight. After repair, reconnect the bottom plate to the chair and test whether the chair moves smoothly and confirm there are no other problems.

Repair Precautions: Avoid using sharp objects to puncture the seat cushion cover or getting the materials wet during operation; regularly inspect and maintain the seat; old cushions can be recycled to reduce environmental pollution.
