Reclining Office Chair Installation

Admin October 17, 2026

The installation steps for a reclining office chair should be carried out in a bottom-up order. The core process includes assembling the chair base, gas lift, seat, backrest, armrests, and headrest. The specific operations are as follows:

  1. Install the Chair Base and Casters
Insert each caster into the five-pronged mounting holes of the chair base one by one, ensuring that the clips of each caster are fully embedded in the holes to prevent looseness. This step provides stable support for subsequent components, and it is necessary to check whether all casters are properly installed.

  2. Secure the Gas Lift
Insert the thicker end of the gas lift vertically into the central hole of the chair base, ensuring that the direction matches the seat chassis. The gas lift is a crucial component for adjusting the seat height and reclining function. During installation, ensure verticality to prevent malfunctions caused by tilting.

  3. Connect the Chassis and Seat

    • Place the chassis on the bottom of the seat, align the screw holes, and initially secure them with silver screws (or B screws). Screw each one in 3-4 turns first, then tighten them one by one to prevent chassis misalignment.
    • For some models, pay attention to the orientation of the chassis. For example, the backrest connection surface should face backward to ensure correct installation of the subsequent backrest.
  4. Assemble the Backrest and Seat

    • Align the two sides at the bottom of the backrest with the armrest mounting positions on both sides of the seat, insert them slowly, and confirm that the clips are in place.
    • Use C screws to secure the bottom of the backrest from the bottom of the armrest brackets, then use D screws to lock the backrest and seat cushion brackets with a wrench, ensuring that the linkage structure between the backrest and seat cushion is stable. This is the core step for achieving the reclining function.
  5. Install the Armrests

    • Press the button below the armrest surface, insert the left and right armrests into the holes of the armrest brackets respectively, and a "click" sound indicates that they are properly installed.
    • Check whether the screws at the connection between the armrests and the seat are tightened to prevent looseness during use.
  6. Insert the Headrest (if applicable)

    • Place the headrest in the middle position at the top of the backrest and press it to fit snugly against the backrest.
    • Thread an E screw through the headrest fixing clip and tighten it to ensure that the headrest is adjustable in height and stable.
  7. Final Adjustment and Testing

    • Align the seat with the gas lift and insert it into the chassis hole, ensuring vertical insertion without wobbling.
    • Test whether the reclining function works properly and check whether all screws are secure, especially at the connection between the backrest and seat cushion. If a reclining adjustment mechanism (such as a telescopic bracket) is involved, refer to the instruction manual to confirm the installation positions of additional components.

Precautions:

  • It is recommended to strictly follow the "bottom-up" principle for the installation order to avoid difficulties in subsequent operations due to unsecured components.
  • When disassembling, reverse the operations. However, the gas lift and chair base may become stuck due to long-term use, and a rubber mallet can be used to tap lightly or a small amount of lubricating oil can be applied to assist in separation.
  • If the reclining function does not work properly, first check whether the linkage screws between the backrest and seat cushion are tightened or whether the gas lift is properly installed.
