Quick Disassembly of Office Chair

Admin October 13, 2026

You can refer to the following steps for the quick disassembly of an office chair:

I. Disassembling the Base

  1. Separate the Backrest from the Seat Cushion: First, loosen the connecting components (such as screws or clips) between the backrest and the seat cushion to separate them. This step reduces interference between components during subsequent operations.
  2. Adjust the Height of the Gas Lift: Raise the gas lift to its highest position to ensure it is fully extended. This operation reduces the friction between the gas lift and the base, facilitating subsequent disassembly.
  3. Shake to Disassemble the Base: Hold the seat cushion with one hand and press the lifting lever of the gas lift (usually located beneath the seat cushion) with the other hand while gently shaking the base. Through repeated pressing and shaking, the connection between the base and the gas lift will gradually loosen, and eventually, the base can be removed.

II. Disassembling the Gas Lift

  1. Invert the Chair Legs: Place the chair legs (i.e., the five-star base) upside down so that the gas lift points upwards. This position utilizes gravity to assist in disassembly and prevents components from slipping and causing damage.
  2. Use Tools to Tap: Preferably use a rubber mallet to tap vertically on the connection between the gas lift and the chair legs. The elasticity of the rubber mallet reduces impact damage to the components; if a rubber mallet is not available, place a wooden board on top of the gas lift and tap the wooden board with an ordinary hammer to protect the components through cushioning.
  3. Auxiliary Disassembly Method: If the gas lift is tightly connected to the chair legs, use locking pliers to secure the top of the gas lift and pull it upwards forcefully after locking. This method requires controlling the force to prevent internal parts of the gas lift from flying out.

III. Precautions

  1. Safety Protection: It is recommended to wear gloves during disassembly to prevent metal components from scratching your fingers; if there is high-pressure gas inside the gas lift, release the pressure slowly before operating.
  2. Classify and Store Components: Small parts such as screws and clips after disassembly should be stored separately to avoid loss; large components such as the gas lift and chair legs should be placed steadily to prevent tipping.
  3. Refer to the Instruction Manual: The structures of office chairs from different brands may vary. If disassembly is difficult, it is recommended to consult the product instruction manual first or contact after-sales service for guidance.

By following these steps, you can systematically complete the disassembly of an office chair, balancing efficiency and safety.
