Installation of Rocking Function for Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

The rocking function for an office chair is mainly achieved by installing a top-tier rocking tray with rocking capabilities. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Prepare installation materials
Open the product installation package and confirm that all parts are present and undamaged. The required materials include: 5 matching wheels, a backrest cover plate, a screw pack, and a four-stage gas lift. It is crucial to check that the rocking tray is intact, with its core components (such as the toggle and spring structure) free from deformation or jamming, as these issues could affect the normal use of the rocking function.

  2. Install base wheels
Align the clips of each wheel with the chair leg connectors and press firmly until you hear a 'click' sound, ensuring the wheels are securely installed. Afterward, cover with the backrest cover plate to initially conceal the internal structure of the chair legs, preventing scratches to your hands or damage to the parts during subsequent operations.

  3. Install the gas lift
Align the thick end of the four-stage gas lift with the central mounting hole of the base, insert it vertically, and rotate slightly to secure it tightly to the base. The gas lift is a key component supporting the chair body, so ensure it is inserted deeply enough (usually until the surface of the gas lift is flush with the base) to prevent the chair body from tilting or sinking due to looseness.

  4. Install the seat cushion and rocking tray
Flip the seat cushion over and align it with the toggle direction of the rocking tray (usually marked with 'FRONT' or an arrow on the tray). Use the second shortest screw with a washer to secure it. If installing a top-tier rocking tray, the process is the same as for a regular seat cushion, but additionally check that the rocking mechanism of the tray (such as springs and dampers) is flexible by manually pressing to test the rebound effect.

  5. Secure the backrest
Align the backrest with the four holes on the base and tighten the matching screws one by one to ensure a firm connection between the backrest and the base. Afterward, cover with a silver decorative cover plate to beautify the appearance and prevent the screws from loosening or dust from entering. When securing the backrest, apply force symmetrically to prevent the chair body from tilting due to excessive tightness on one side.

  6. Install armrests
Take out the assembled seat cushion assembly, unscrew the reserved armrest screws, and align the armrests marked 'L' (left) and 'R' (right) with the mounting positions, ensuring the side with holes faces you (for easy subsequent adjustment of height or angle). During assembly, you can use a box or stool to elevate the seat cushion for easier operation and reduced waist strain.

  7. Install footrest (optional)
If installing a footrest, align it with the mounting position at the front of the chair body, paying attention to the upward direction (usually marked with non-slip textures or labels on the footrest surface), and tighten it with screws. Keep the remaining screws as spare parts to prevent loss and ensure easy maintenance later.

Precautions: Before installation, it is recommended to refer to the product's official manual to verify details, especially the adjustment method of the rocking tray (such as the recline angle and resistance level). If you encounter issues such as clips that cannot be inserted or misaligned screw holes during operation, stop installation immediately and contact the brand's customer service for confirmation to avoid damaging the parts by forcing assembly.
