Office Chair Tube Broken

Admin October 10, 2026

The following repair methods can be selected for broken office chair tubes based on the broken part and requirements:

1. Welding Repair Suitable for broken load-bearing structures (such as chair legs and crossbeams). First, use a grinding machine to clean the original welds at the broken part. Ensure accurate alignment of the positions before using an argon arc welding torch for welding. If the iron tube is hollow and has a thin wall thickness (e.g., < 0.5 mm), welding is difficult and may easily cause breaks in other parts. In this case, it is recommended to replace the component. The welding repair price for an ordinary iron chair is about 150 - 200 yuan, and it may take about half an hour to repair a single chair leg. After repair, reinforce the welded joint to enhance stability.

2. Simple Reinforcement For breaks in non-load-bearing areas (such as chair back decorative strips and armrest edges), two methods can be used:

  • A Glue + Metal Sheet/Carbon Fiber Patch: Use A glue to bond the broken part and then install a metal sheet or wrap a carbon fiber patch. The cost is less than 100 yuan. Ensure that the reinforcement does not affect the overall stability.
  • Metal Glue Repair: After cleaning the chair, sand the broken part with sandpaper, evenly apply metal glue (thickness โ‰ค 1 mm), and then ventilate and dry for 24 hours after splicing.

3. Metal Plate Reinforcement Suitable for parts where the broken structure is thin or requires long-term load-bearing (such as the connection between chair legs and crossbeams). Drill holes at the broken part and install a metal plate. The material cost is about 50 yuan. It can extend the service life of the chair, but ensure that the metal plate is tightly attached to the original structure.

4. Screw Fixing For broken parts with small stress (such as the crossbar of the chair back), drill holes at the broken part and install screws for fixing. Grinding and coloring treatments are required to ensure the appearance. This method is simple to operate but is only suitable for non-load-bearing structures. Regularly check for screw looseness.

5. Wooden Stick or Thin Tube Sleeve Connection When a hollow iron tube is broken, a wooden stick can be cut to an appropriate diameter and hammered into the two broken ends of the steel tube. Or, take a section of thin tube slightly thicker than the support rod, pass the support rod through both ends and sleeve it, apply glue to the sleeved part, and then drill holes and install accessories. You can also process a piece of bakelite into a cylindrical shape, drill holes, apply glue, pass it through the two ends of the support rod, and install accessories.

6. Iron Wire Reinforcement The cost is extremely low. You can tie an iron wire into a mesh structure below the broken part. Iron wire can be purchased at a hardware store for about 2 - 3 yuan per bundle.

Repair Precautions:

  • Before repair, evaluate the stress situation of the broken part. For damage to load-bearing structures, welding or component replacement should be the first choice.
  • If the chair has design defects or material problems (such as thin steel tube walls and false welds), there may still be safety hazards after repair. It is recommended to contact the merchant to negotiate a return, exchange, or compensation.
  • After repair, check the stability of the chair to ensure there is no shaking or abnormal noise and avoid secondary damage.
