Office Chair Seat Cushion Installation

Admin October 17, 2026

The steps for installing the seat cushion on an office chair are as follows:

First, complete the preliminary fixation of the base and the seat cushion. Place the base steadily on the surface of the seat cushion, paying special attention to the orientation of the base to ensure it matches the installation direction of the seat cushion. After aligning the four screw holes on the base and the seat cushion, gently screw in the four B screws (usually short screws) 3-4 turns one by one. The purpose of this step is to preliminarily position the base to prevent it from shifting during subsequent operations. After the initial screwing-in, tighten the screws one by one to ensure a firm connection between the base and the seat cushion, but avoid excessive force that could cause the screws to strip or damage the surface of the seat cushion.

The second step is to connect the seat cushion to the gas lift. Align the seat cushion with the installed base to the top of the gas lift and slowly insert it downwards until the base hole completely wraps around the gas lift. During this process, keep the seat cushion level to avoid misalignment between the gas lift and the base hole due to tilting. After insertion, gently shake the seat cushion to test the stability of the connection. If there is no obvious looseness, the installation is correct. The gas lift is the core component of the office chair's height adjustment function, and its connection to the seat cushion must ensure perpendicularity; otherwise, it may affect the smoothness of height adjustment during subsequent use.

The third step is to install the auxiliary accessories of the seat cushion. Confirm the installation positions of the armrests, support structures (such as lumbar support brackets), and adjustment components (such as height adjustment knobs) according to the installation drawing. Taking the armrests as an example, first align their metal brackets with the reserved holes on the side of the seat cushion and then fix them with the matching screws. The support structures need to be connected to the bottom of the seat cushion through snaps or screws, ensuring there are no gaps at the connection points. The adjustment components usually need to be inserted into the dedicated slots on the side of the seat cushion and locked by rotating or pressing. This step must strictly follow the drawing to avoid functional abnormalities caused by incorrect installation of the accessories.

The final step is to fix the armrests to the seat cushion. Align the holes on the metal brackets of the armrests with the screw holes on the side of the seat cushion, insert the matching screws, and tighten them with a tool. Some armrests need to be connected to both the base and the seat cushion simultaneously. In this case, first fix the screws on the base side, then adjust the angle of the armrests to a comfortable position and fix the screws on the seat cushion side. After installation, check if the armrests are level, if there is any abnormal noise when shaking, and test if the height or tilt of the seat cushion can be adjusted normally through the adjustment components to ensure all functions are working properly.
