Office Chair Safety and Quality

Admin October 11, 2026

The safety and quality of office chairs should be comprehensively evaluated from multiple dimensions, including load-bearing structure, materials, moving parts, overall stability, and after-sales policies.

1. Load-Bearing Structure: Stability is Key
The load-bearing structure directly affects the safety of office chairs, including gas springs, bases, chair legs, and connecting components. Gas springs should be selected from models that have passed safety certifications, such as Class 4 gas springs (usually labeled 'Class 4'), which offer superior pressure resistance and explosion-proof performance compared to lower-grade products. The base should have an explosion-proof design to prevent sudden seat drops due to gas spring failures. Chair legs are recommended to be made of metal (such as aluminum alloy) or high-strength engineering plastics to ensure that the load-bearing capacity matches the product's specified range (usually 100-150kg). Connecting components (such as screws and rivets) must be secure to prevent loosening after long-term use.

2. Materials: Durability and Comfort Combined
For mesh materials, attention should be paid to elasticity, tension, and edge treatment. High-quality mesh should have high resilience, remain taut over long-term use, and have edges that are hemmed or reinforced to prevent fraying. Foam seat cushions should be made of high-density (โ‰ฅ30kg/mยณ) materials, providing strong support and resistance to sagging; low-density foam is prone to deformation under pressure, which can affect posture health. The chair frame is recommended to be made of metal or engineering plastics, avoiding the use of inferior recycled plastics to prevent fracture risks.

3. Moving Parts: Adjustability and Robustness
Components such as armrests, recline mechanisms, and height adjustment structures require frequent adjustment, and their workmanship directly affects safety. Armrests should offer multi-position adjustability and be securely attached to prevent wobbling. The recline mechanism must pass pressure tests to ensure smooth tilting without jamming or sudden rebound. The height adjustment structure should operate smoothly without sticking, and the gas spring's height adjustment range should meet ergonomic requirements (usually 40-50cm).

4. Overall Stability: Covering All Usage Scenarios
The chair should not exhibit abnormal wobbling or noises during normal sitting or adjustment (such as reclining or height adjustment). To test stability, place the chair on a flat surface and simulate daily usage scenarios (such as rocking back and forth or turning left and right) to check for structural firmness.

5. After-Sales Policy: Long-Term Safety Assurance
Clarify the warranty period (usually 1-5 years), the scope of wear-and-tear parts (such as gas springs and wheels), and repair methods. Prioritize brands that have passed multi-national certifications (such as EU CE and US BIFMA), as their products must undergo long-term performance tests (such as 6-year anti-degradation tests) to ensure higher quality assurance.
