Office Chair Rotation Fixing
There are several main methods for fixing the rotation of an office chair:

1. Lock the casters If you need to completely fix an office chair, you can replace it with brake casters with locking functions. When choosing, confirm the type (snap-in or threaded) and size compatibility of the original chair casters to avoid incompatible installation. For temporary fixing, a simple friction method can be used: insert rough paper or rubber sheets at the contact points between the casters and the ground to restrict movement by increasing rolling resistance. This method is low-cost, but the fixing effect is affected by the friction coefficient of the material, and long-term use may wear out the casters.
2. Tighten the chassis and structure Long-term use of an office chair may cause the connecting parts to loosen, leading to rotation or wobbling. Regularly check and tighten all screws, including those connecting the armrests, backrest, five-star base, and chassis. If the structural stability is still insufficient, use metal reinforcement straps to wrap around key parts (such as the connection between the seat and the gas lift), or use the principle of triangular stability to add wooden strips or metal supports at the diagonal positions of the chair frame to enhance overall rigidity.
3. Use adjustment knobs for locking Some mid-to-high-end swivel chairs are designed with locking devices at the base or under the seat. For example, rotating the adjustment knob to the โLOCKโ position or pressing an independent locking button can fix the seat angle or rotation function. Before use, read the instruction manual to confirm the operation method to avoid locking failure due to accidental touching. Such designs usually balance flexibility and fixing requirements, suitable for scenarios where frequent sitting posture adjustments are needed.
4. Use fixed feet or casters with brakes Fixed feet (such as rubber pads) can directly replace the casters, providing stable support but sacrificing mobility. If you need to retain the caster function, you can choose casters with brake devices, which can lock all five casters simultaneously by stepping on or pressing the brake pads. When operating, ensure that all casters are in the locked state; otherwise, the chair may tilt due to the sliding of a single caster.
5. Gravity self-locking casters Gravity self-locking casters combine the dual needs of mobility and fixing: when the user sits down, the casters automatically lock; when getting up, they unlock and restore the sliding function. Such designs are suitable for scenarios that require intermittent fixing (such as meetings and focused work), but note that being too light or too heavy in weight may affect the locking sensitivity, and products that match the weight range should be selected.
6. Install a seat rotation fixer For gas-lift swivel chairs, a dedicated fixer (such as the SoChair ergonomic home universal model) can be installed. Such devices usually fit gas lifts with a thick tube diameter (such as an outer diameter of 50mm) and achieve rotation locking by clamping the gas lift or replacing the original accessories. Before installation, measure the size of the gas lift and confirm the compatibility between the fixer and the chair type to avoid damaging the gas lift due to improper installation.
