Office Chair Repair Experience
Office chair repair requires taking targeted measures based on different types of faults. Here are some repair tips for common issues:

Repairing an office chair that leans to one side First, check the flatness of the ground. Ensure that all the wheels of the chair touch the ground when it is placed upright and upside down. If the ground is uneven, adjust the position or level it up. If the wheels are damaged, purchase matching wheels: contact the manufacturer for the model number to order, or take down the old wheels and compare the shape and size of the axles at an office supplies store. When removing the casters, pull them directly by hand. If they are stuck, insert a flat-head screwdriver into the gap between the wheel and the chair and pry it open. For a very small number of casters fixed with screws, use a screwdriver to loosen the screws. Before installing new wheels, apply a small amount of WD-40 spray lubricant or Vaseline to the base socket. Use a rubber mallet to tap the casters into the socket, ensuring that the rod is aligned with the base. First, push gently and then tap gently to secure it. Finally, turn the chair upside down for testing. If it still leans, check whether the seat plate is deformed.

- Hose clamp method: Remove the plastic skirt (turn the chair upside down and use a screwdriver to push the base fixing clips to take down the wheels and the skirt). Wrap a hose clamp around the gas cylinder. If the clamp slips, increase the friction by wrapping rubber bands, tape, or sanding the surface of the gas cylinder. Tighten the clamp and test the height. If necessary, move the position of the clamp. If it still slips, use a rubber strip to fix it or switch to a PVC pipe.
- PVC pipe method: Measure the diameter of the gas cylinder and the length at the desired height. Purchase a PVC pipe with the same or a slightly larger diameter (e.g., 1.5 inches). Saw the pipe lengthwise (it is recommended to wear a mask to prevent inhaling particles) and place it over the gas cylinder to fix the height. If you do not have a sawing tool, keep the pipe intact and operate after removing the wheels.
Repairing the issue of the adjustable seat back not being able to stand upright When the hydraulic rod of the backrest is faulty, place the chair on its side and check the transmission components: if the toggle is normal but the hydraulic mechanism is detached, check the fixing screws at the fulcrum (non-standard 10*1 screws can be replaced with standard size 10 screws). Use a tap to repair the threads or directly install a 30-mm long screw with a wrench (the original screw may be shorter). Note that the screw should not interfere with the movement of the hydraulic rod, and you can adjust it by adding washers. If the nut and bolt fit too loosely, screw a nut onto the bolt for additional fixing.
Repairing a worn leather-like seat cushion chair Choose a fabric covering solution: purchase brown fabric online and prepare tools such as an iron and a sewing machine. Initially, trying to fix the fabric cover with leg-binding methods was not aesthetically pleasing, so self-tapping screws were used to fix it from the back of the seat cushion, but it looked bulky on the front. Later, the front of the fabric cover was modified by sewing. Beginner sewers need to use an iron to help flatten the seams. If there are not enough screws, the non-woven fabric on the back of the chair can be fixed with woodworking staples (which need to be purchased on Taobao). While waiting for the delivery, you can refer to DIY videos to disassemble the non-woven fabric and learn the hidden installation method of the seat cushion leather.
