Office Chair Repair
Admin October 09, 2026
Office chair repair should be carried out according to the extent of damage, including two approaches: self-repair and professional services.

Repairing an Office Chair That Leans to One Side
- Inspect the Wheels: Place the chair upright and ensure each wheel foot is in contact with the ground; invert the chair to check if the wheels are bent or deformed. If damaged, purchase matching wheels for replacement.
- Replace the Wheels: Pull out the old casters directly or use a flat-head screwdriver to assist in removal; apply a small amount of spray lubricant (such as WD-40) to the base sockets; use a rubber mallet to fully tap the new casters into the sockets.
- Inspect the Seat Plate: If the chair still leans after replacing the wheels, place the chair on its side to check if the metal seat plate is deformed or damaged, and replace it if necessary.
Daily Maintenance
- Surface Cleaning:
- Mesh/Fabric Seat Surfaces: Use a vacuum cleaner or soft-bristled brush to clean dust weekly. For stains, dilute a neutral detergent and use a damp soft cloth to wipe.
- Leather Seat Surfaces: Wipe dust daily with a dry soft cloth, clean sweat and oil stains weekly with a slightly damp cloth, and apply specialized leather conditioner quarterly.
- Plastic/Metal Frames: Wipe stains with a damp cloth dipped in a small amount of soapy water, then dry with a cloth.
- Usage Habits:
- Avoid placing heavy objects on the armrests or seat surface to prevent deformation or indentation.
- Push or pull gently when moving to avoid hitting walls or table corners, preventing frame cracks or wheel damage.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, especially on leather and fabric seat surfaces, to prevent material aging and fading.
- Regular Maintenance:
- Lubricate Adjustment Systems: Apply 1-2 drops of lubricating oil to the connection between the gas lift and the base when the lift is stuck; apply a small amount of grease when the tilt/recline system has excessive resistance during adjustment.
- Tighten Connection Components: Regularly use a Phillips screwdriver and hex wrench to check if the screws connecting the seat surface to the gas lift and the bolts fixing the base to the gas lift are loose.
- Clean the Wheels: Regularly clean dust and debris from the wheels to ensure smooth movement.
