Office Chair Removal Tool

Admin October 22, 2026

The commonly used 'miracle tools' or professional tools in the process of disassembling office chairs mainly include the following. Using them properly can significantly improve efficiency and reduce safety risks:

  1. Hydraulic Rod Separation Tool (Gas Rod Extractor)
    This is the core tool for disassembling the gas rod. Its design principle is to precisely grip the connection between the gas rod and the base, replacing the traditional hard-prying method. When using it, align the tool's notch with the root of the gas rod and gradually separate it using the lever principle, which can prevent component damage or the sudden ejection of the gas rod due to internal pressure. This tool is especially suitable for disassembling modern pneumatic lift chairs and can greatly reduce operational risks.

  2. Rubber Mallet
    Used for gently tapping to loosen connections, its elastic material reduces the impact force on components. Compared to metal hammers, rubber mallets can effectively prevent paint peeling or structural deformation, especially suitable for disassembling the snap-fit structure between the base and the gas rod. When tapping, control the force and start from the edge areas gradually.

  3. Adjustable Wrench
    Mainly used to assist in unscrewing the fixing screws of some old-style gas rods or in combination with prying operations. Its adjustable opening design can adapt to nuts of different specifications. When using it, ensure that the wrench fully engages with the nut to prevent slippage and scratches. For severely rusted screws, spray lubricant before operation.

  4. Flat-head Screwdriver
    Used to remove the dust cover at the connection to prevent the tool from slipping. Its flat blade can be inserted into the gap for prying. When operating, keep the blade perpendicular to the component to avoid damaging the internal structure. Some models of screwdrivers have anti-slip patterns on the head to improve operational stability.

  5. Anti-slip Gloves
    The edges of metal components may have burrs, and anti-slip gloves provide dual protection: preventing hand injuries and enhancing grip. It is recommended to choose models with silicone particles, which can better adapt to oily or humid environments.

  6. WD-40 Lubricant
    For rusted parts, spraying can penetrate into the thread gaps and reduce friction. After use, wait 5-10 minutes for the lubricant to fully penetrate before operating with tools. For parts that have not been disassembled for a long time, repeat spraying 2-3 times.

Operational Precautions:

  • Before disassembly, release the internal pressure of the gas rod (invert the chair and repeatedly press the seat surface until there is no obvious rebound);
  • If there is no professional separation tool, use two old adjustable wrenches to alternately pry the edge of the gas rod and the base, but control the force;
  • When tapping, prioritize using a rubber mallet to avoid damage caused by metal hammers.
