Office Chair Reclining Adjustment with Enlarged Space
The method for adjusting the reclining and enlarging the space of an office chair depends on the type of adjustment system it has. Here are the common types and steps:

Lever Adjustment System
Such chairs usually have an adjustment lever located near the right or left side beneath the seat. If the chair has a reclining lock feature, first locate the lever and release the reclining lock. Then, slowly lean your body weight backward while adjusting the lever to the desired angle. If you need to fix the reclining position, operate the lever again to lock the angle. Note that the position of the lever may vary slightly depending on the design, so it is advisable to observe or touch it gently to confirm first.
Knob Adjustment System
There may be a knob located at the center or side of the lower part of the seat, which is used to control the reclining resistance or angle. To adjust the reclining resistance, turn the knob clockwise to increase the resistance (suitable for heavier individuals to prevent sinking when reclining) and counterclockwise to decrease the resistance (suitable for lighter individuals to make reclining easier). Some chairs may be equipped with a separate knob to adjust the reclining angle. In this case, refer to the instruction manual to clarify the functional correspondence to avoid misoperation. When adjusting, rotate the knob gradually and test the resistance to avoid damaging the knob due to excessive force.
Pneumatic Adjustment System
Such chairs usually integrate the reclining adjustment lever with the height adjustment lever. When operating, locate the pneumatic lever adjacent to the height adjustment lever. Pushing it forward reduces the reclining angle, and pulling it backward increases the reclining angle. The pneumatic system controls the angle change through air pressure, and the operation process is relatively smooth. However, pay attention to the magnitude of pushing or pulling to avoid losing balance due to excessive angle change. Before adjusting, ensure that the chair is in a stable state and avoid operating it on a sliding or inclined surface.
Button Adjustment System
Some chairs control reclining locking and unlocking through buttons. Pushing the button inward locks the current state (at this time, only the height can be adjusted), and pulling the button outward unlocks the reclining function. After unlocking, lean your body backward to adjust the angle. After reaching a comfortable position, push the button inward again to lock the angle. When operating, ensure that the button is fully pushed in or pulled out to avoid locking failure due to poor contact.
Adjustment Recommendations:
- Heavier individuals are advised to increase the reclining resistance, while lighter individuals should decrease it to match their body needs.
- Before adjusting, ensure that there are no obstacles around the chair to avoid colliding with objects due to angle changes.
- If you still feel uncomfortable after adjustment, it may be due to the chair's design or wear and tear. It is recommended to contact after-sales service for inspection and repair.
