Office Chair Quality Testing

Admin October 11, 2026

Office chair quality testing covers multiple aspects including materials, safety standards, long-term performance, structural materials, and moving parts.

Material and Physical Performance Testing: This is the foundational step in quality testing. For office chairs with leather materials, sensory evaluation of the leather's texture, feel, and breathability is necessary to ensure the authenticity and compliance with physical performance requirements. For example, high-quality leather should have a fine texture, a soft feel, and good breathability, which not only enhances user comfort but also ensures durability.

EN1335 Testing: This is a systematic safety standard developed by the European Union for office chairs, consisting of three core parts. First, ergonomic dimension verification uses standard mannequins to simulate real human sitting postures and weights, calibrating parameters such as seat cushion depth, seat height, backrest support angle, and armrest spacing. Reasonable dimension design prevents waist and neck strain caused by improper sizing. Second, comprehensive stability testing simulates the risk of tipping in different usage scenarios, such as forward, backward, and lateral stability, ensuring the chair does not tip over during normal use and safeguarding user safety. Third, strength and durability testing verifies load-bearing capacity through seat static pressure tests and simulates millions of reclining motions with backrest cyclic durability tests to assess long-term reliability.

Long-Term Performance Verification: This focuses on potential issues that may arise during extended use of office chairs, such as seat cushion deformation, mesh fabric loosening, armrest wobbling, and unusual noises during reclining. Although these issues may seem minor, they can significantly impact the user experience and thus require special attention during quality testing.

Structural and Material Testing: This includes the stability of load-bearing structures (gas lift, base, chair legs), the elasticity, tension, and edge treatment of mesh fabric, and the density and support of foam seat cushions. A stable load-bearing structure ensures the safe use of the office chair, while high-quality mesh fabric and foam seat cushions provide better comfort and support.

Moving Parts Testing: This primarily evaluates the smoothness of adjustment and connection sturdiness of armrests, reclining mechanisms, and height adjustment structures. The smoothness of adjustment for these moving parts directly affects the user's operational experience, while connection sturdiness relates to the overall stability and safety of the office chair.
