Office Chair Processing

Admin October 11, 2026

Office chair processing involves multiple key steps and processes, covering frame fabrication, elastic support construction, component treatment, and functional customization.

Frame fabrication is the foundational step. The frame for the bottom cushion is typically formed by bending steel tubes using hydraulic-powered machinery. Workers then connect the ends and weld steel bars to support the seat adjustment mechanism. The construction of the backrest frame is more complex, involving the welding and assembly of components such as the spine and armrest attachments. The surface of the steel must be smoothed to remove burrs, preventing scratches on subsequent covering materials. The stability of the frame directly affects the chair's lifespan, so the welding process must ensure strong joints without cold welds or cracks.

The elastic support system determines comfort. Hanging S-shaped steel springs from the front to the back of the seat frame is a core step, with springs evenly distributed to provide balanced elastic support. Horizontally placed rods enhance structural stability, preventing spring deformation or displacement. Some high-end office chairs use individually pocketed springs or memory foam instead of traditional steel springs to improve fit and reduce noise.

Component treatment requires precise operations. Before leather covering, the surface must be smoothed to remove wrinkles and impurities, then cut according to templates, avoiding natural flaws (such as scars or color variations) to ensure a consistent appearance. The cutting of foam pads must strictly follow the chair's design curves, with density and thickness matching ergonomic requirements to avoid local sagging or excessive firmness. Surface treatment of the backrest frame's steel also includes anti-rust coating application to extend its lifespan.

Functional customization meets diverse needs. Office chair processing supports various styles and functional options. For example, electric executive chairs can be equipped with electric height adjustment, rotation, and massage functions; ergonomic chairs adapt to different body types and postures through adjustable lumbar support, headrests, and armrests; breathable mesh office chairs use high-elasticity mesh for the seat and backrest, improving air circulation and suitability for prolonged use. Customization prices vary based on materials (such as genuine leather, mesh, or plastic) and functional complexity, ranging from around a hundred yuan for basic models to several hundred yuan for high-end electric versions.

The entire processing workflow requires strict quality control, from raw material inspection to final assembly, ensuring each step meets safety and comfort standards to produce ergonomic and durable office chairs.
