Office Chair Pivot Installation
Admin October 22, 2026
The installation of office chair pivots should be carried out according to the specific component types. Here are the installation methods for different types of pivots:

Installation of Universal Wheel Pivots
When installing universal wheel pivots, align the wheels with the mounting holes on the chair legs. While pressing the wheels, rock them back and forth along the direction of the chair legs. This action helps the wheel axles smoothly enter the mounting holes. If you find that the wheels cannot be pressed in smoothly during installation, do not force them. Instead, try rotating the wheel axles to allow the small iron rings on the axles to fit into the plastic openings. This ensures a better fit between the wheels and the chair legs and guarantees a secure installation.
Installation of Central Axles
- Preparation: First, purchase a new central axle that matches the specifications of the original one to ensure normal use after installation. Also, prepare tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches, which will be used to remove and install screws or nuts. Additionally, ensure that the work area is safe to avoid accidents during installation.
- Removing the Old Axle: Turn the swivel chair upside down so that the bottom is facing up for easier operation. Use a screwdriver or wrench to remove the screws or nuts that secure the central axle. Be careful with the force during removal to avoid damaging the screws or nuts. After removing the screws or nuts, gently pull out the old axle, taking care not to damage other components of the chair.
- Installing the New Axle: Align the new central axle with the mounting hole and insert it, ensuring accurate insertion. Then, use a screwdriver or wrench to tighten the screws or nuts. Pay attention to applying an appropriate amount of force during tightening to avoid over-tightening or under-tightening. After installation, check if other components are intact and repair or replace any damaged parts promptly.
- Testing and Adjustment: Turn the swivel chair back over and test its rotation function. If the rotation is not smooth or there are other issues, make appropriate adjustments, such as adjusting the tightness of the screws or nuts, to achieve the best user experience.
Installation of Double-Ended Screws for Footrest Pivots
- Selecting Screws: Choose appropriate screws according to the model of the chair. If you are unsure about the screw specifications, you can remove the original screws for comparison or consult professionals to ensure that the selected screws match the chair.
- Preparing Tools: Prepare tools of suitable sizes such as wrenches and screwdrivers to facilitate smooth operation during installation.
- Removing the Old Screws: Loosen the original screws. If the screws are tight, you can use a lubricant such as WD-40 to help loosen them for easier removal.
- Installing the New Screws: Insert the new screws into the holes on the chair legs and the footrest. Use the tools to gradually tighten them, maintaining even force on both ends during tightening to avoid screw tilting or an insecure installation.
- Checking the Effect: After installation, ensure that the screws are tightly fastened and check if the chair is stable. If problems are found, such as chair wobbling, deal with them promptly and readjust the tightness of the screws.
