Office Chair Pivot Fixing
There are several methods for fixing the pivot of an office chair, and you can choose the appropriate one based on specific needs and materials:

1. Screw Fixing Method This is the most common fixing method, suitable for pivots made of metal or plastic. When operating, first determine the installation position of the bearing, use an electric drill to drill holes in the chair body, and then connect the bearing to the chair body with screws. Key Points: The tightness of the screws should be moderate. Over-tightening may cause material deformation or pivot jamming, while under-tightening can lead to looseness and abnormal noise. It is recommended to regularly check the status of the screws to prevent loosening due to vibration after long-term use.
2. Welding Fixing Method This method is suitable for connecting metal pivots to the chair body, especially for heavy-duty office chairs or scenarios requiring high-strength fixing. When welding, control the heat to avoid local overheating, which can cause material embrittlement or cracks. After welding, conduct quality inspections, such as tapping to listen for sounds to determine if there is any false welding, or using a penetrant testing agent to check the sealability of the welds. Note: Welding will damage the surface coating of the material, and subsequent painting for rust prevention is required.
3. Radial Riveting Machine Head Fixing This method uses radial riveting technology to achieve cold connection of metal parts. By applying a preset pressure of 5-8 tons to radially squeeze the pivot and the metal plate of the chair body, the material undergoes plastic deformation to form a rivet structure. Advantages: There is no risk of thermal deformation, and the connection strength is higher than that of ordinary welding. It is especially suitable for fixing pivots with a diameter of 8-25mm. Professional equipment is required for operation, and it is commonly used in industrial mass production scenarios.
4. Tightening the Base and Structure For overall wobbling caused by a loose pivot, check and tighten all connecting parts:
- Use a wrench to tighten the screws at the connections between the armrests, backrest, and seat.
- Check if the screws at the connection between the five-star base and the base are loose.
- For metal tube frames, use the principle of triangular stability to add wooden sticks or metal tubes at the diagonal positions to enhance structural rigidity.
5. Using Adjustment Knobs for Locking Some mid-to-high-end office chairs are designed with adjustment knobs or independent locking buttons at the base or under the seat. When fixing, first adjust the office chair to the appropriate height or angle, and then press the locking button or rotate it to the locking position. Tip: Before locking, ensure that the office chair is in a horizontal position to prevent the locking mechanism from being unevenly stressed and failing due to tilting.
