Office Chair Parameter Standards

Admin October 11, 2026

Office chair parameter standards mainly include four aspects: ergonomic size suitability, material safety and structural reliability, functionality and adjustability, and other parameters.

Ergonomic Size Suitability: According to the national standard 'Ergonomic Requirements for Healthy Homes - Part 3: Office Desks and Chairs' (GB/T 39223.3-2020), key dimensions of office chairs must meet specific ranges. The seat height typically ranges from 450 to 550 mm, the seat depth from 400 to 440 mm, the seat width should be no less than 380 mm, and the backrest height should ideally reach the lower edge of the scapula. Fixed-seat models generally have seat dimensions of 40 to 45 centimeters, while adjustable models range from 38 to 48 centimeters. Auditorium chairs typically have a seat height of 400 to 440 mm, a seat depth of 400 to 450 mm, a back height of 1020 mm, and a seat center distance of โ‰ฅ580 mm.

Material Safety and Structural Reliability: Panels must meet the E0 environmental standard, with formaldehyde emissions โ‰ค0.05 mg/mยณ. Pneumatic rods must pass third-party certifications such as SGS/TUV/BIFMA. Frames should preferably be made of aluminum alloy or high-strength engineering plastics, with a load-bearing capacity of no less than 100 kg. Mesh fabrics offer excellent breathability, suitable for prolonged sitting, while high-density foam provides strong support, ideal for larger users. Auditorium chairs must comply with the 'Public Seating for Cinemas and Theaters' standard QB/T2602-2013, with formaldehyde emissions โ‰ค0.12 mg/mยณ, a static load capacity of the seat surface โ‰ฅ2000 N, and fire-resistant fabric meeting Class B1 standards.

Functionality and Adjustability: Core adjustable functions should cover seat height, seat depth, lumbar support, and armrests. For prolonged sitting scenarios, it is recommended to choose chairs with a recline angle of โ‰ฅ135ยฐ and dynamic lumbar support capabilities. For high-frequency meeting scenarios, lightweight and space-saving designs are preferred. Some height-adjustable office chairs have seat cushions about 5 centimeters thick, filled with foam or memory foam to distribute pressure evenly. Backrests are divided into high and low types, with high backrests supporting the waist to the shoulders. Armrests are mostly made of engineering plastics, with some products featuring adjustable armrests to accommodate different sitting postures.

Other Parameters: The chair surface should maintain a 25 to 30 cm drop from the desktop to ensure natural arm placement without fatigue. Some models of auditorium chairs are equipped with local lighting, cup holders, and simultaneous interpretation equipment, while others use serpentine springs or silent pneumatic return mechanisms. Installation methods mainly include single-leg floor mounting or armrest stand mounting.
