Office Chair Panel Fixing
Admin October 19, 2026
The method for fixing an office chair panel can be selected based on the degree of damage and requirements as follows:

I. Adhesive Fixing for Minor Detachment
If the panel only shows slight looseness or partial detachment, strong adhesive is the preferred repair method. Commonly used materials include all-purpose glue and woodworking glue, with the following operating steps:
- Surface Preparation: Ensure that the connecting surface between the panel and the chair body is dry, clean, and free of oil stains. Lightly sand the contact surface with sandpaper to enhance the adhesive's grip; if there is residual glue on the surface, thoroughly clean it with alcohol or a specialized cleaner.
- Even Application of Glue: Control the amount of adhesive according to the instructions, avoiding excessive overflow. For example, woodworking glue should be applied in a thin layer, while all-purpose glue can be dotted at key contact points.
- Press and Fix: Immediately align the panel with the chair body after applying the glue, apply even pressure (such as by placing a heavy object or using clamps) and maintain it for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour, referring to the glue's drying instructions for the specific time.
- Complete Curing: After gluing, let it stand for more than 24 hours to ensure the adhesive layer is fully cured before use, avoiding secondary detachment due to external forces.
II. Mechanical Fixing for Severe Detachment
If the panel is severely detached or requires long-term stability, drilling and screwing is a more reliable method, with the following operating points to note:
- Positioning and Drilling: Use an electric drill to drill holes at corresponding positions on the panel and the chair body. The hole diameter should match the screw diameter (e.g., a 2.5mm drill bit for a 3mm screw). Mark the positions with a pencil before drilling to ensure hole alignment.
- Selection of Connectors: Choose screw types according to the material. Self-tapping screws can be used for wooden chair bodies; machine screws with nuts or specialized connectors (such as corner brackets or rivets) are required for metal or plastic chair bodies.
- Safe Operation: Wear goggles when drilling to prevent wood chips or metal shavings from splashing; keep the electric drill perpendicular to avoid hole misalignment leading to panel installation misalignment.
- Tightening and Fixing: After inserting the screws or connectors into the holes, gradually tighten them with a screwdriver or wrench to ensure the panel fits tightly against the chair body without any wobbling gaps.
III. Reinstallation of Original Factory Screws
Some office chairs (such as those from the Deli brand) initially fix the panel with screws. If the screws are loose or lost, they can be repaired according to the following steps:
- Aligning Hole Positions: Place the seat bottom up and align the panel hole positions with the chair body screw holes according to the indicator arrows or markings on the chair body.
- Tightening Screws: Use the matching screws (usually M4 or M5 specifications) to screw them in one by one. First, manually screw them in until the threads engage, then tighten them with a screwdriver, avoiding excessive force that could cause thread slippage.
- Checking Stability: After installation, shake the panel to confirm there is no looseness or abnormal noise. If necessary, add anti-loosening washers or threadlocker to enhance the fixing effect.
