Office Chair Heating Up the Next Day
Admin October 10, 2026
The heating of office chairs is mainly caused by physical heat conduction, imbalance in the sitting microenvironment, and material properties, and can be resolved through cooling and preventive measures.

Cooling Measures
- Use bamboo or linen seat cushions: Bamboo and linen seat cushions are breathable and absorb sweat, offering excellent heat dissipation. Linen material has a breathability rate exceeding 85%. After exposure to sunlight, its surface temperature is 3 - 5ยฐC lower than that of ordinary cushions, and even 8 - 10ยฐC lower than that of genuine leather, effectively reducing the chair surface temperature.
- Choose gel ice pads: Gel ice pads with a honeycomb structure absorb heat quickly and can rapidly lower the perceived temperature. However, they may become warm after half an hour of use. It is recommended to use them in conjunction with regular breaks to maintain the cooling effect.
- Add seat cushions with special structures: Seat cushions made of rattan, ice silk, or 3D honeycomb structures can effectively improve air circulation. A certain brand's cold gel memory foam cushion has been tested to lower the perceived temperature by 3 - 5ยฐC after use, alleviating the discomfort of prolonged sitting.
- Use physical cooling tools: Stainless steel heat sinks popular among Japanese office workers (placed under the seat) can continuously remove heat through the principle of metal heat conduction; portable USB fans blowing directly on the chair surface can accelerate air circulation and lower the local temperature.
Preventive Measures
- Improve sitting posture: Stand up and move around for 1 - 2 minutes every 30 - 40 minutes to reduce prolonged sitting time; sit slightly forward to allow the thighs to share the pressure and reduce the contact area of the buttocks; use an ergonomic lumbar support to distribute the pressure on the buttocks to the back and thighs. A sitting posture with the knees slightly lower than the hips by 10ยฐ can reduce the stress on the gluteal muscles by 18%, and using a footrest to adjust the height yields better results.
- Improve the environment: Lay a thin cotton cloth or linen towel on leather or faux leather chairs to reduce heat accumulation; direct the air conditioning or fan towards the lower limbs to significantly lower the perceived temperature; if possible, switch to a mesh ergonomic chair. The large gaps in the mesh allow continuous air circulation, effectively preventing stuffiness.
