Removal of Menstrual Stains from Office Chairs

Admin October 14, 2026

Menstrual stains on office chairs can be removed through timely treatment and selecting cleaning methods based on the size and material of the stain.

Timely Initial Treatment

Upon discovering menstrual stains, immediately press the stained area with dry paper towels or a highly absorbent cloth to soak up excess liquid. Be careful to avoid rubbing to prevent the stain from spreading. If the blood has already dried, lightly moisten it with cold water before adsorption. Never use hot water, as it can coagulate the proteins in the blood, making cleaning more difficult.

Select Cleaning Methods Based on Stain Size

  • Small stains: Use wet paper towels or a damp cloth to repeatedly wipe until the color fades. If the stained area has only a small amount of blood, you can go to the company restroom, squeeze some hand soap, and wipe repeatedly with wet paper towels.
  • Large and long-lasting stains: First, spray alcohol to break down the bloodstains and wait for about 5 minutes. Then, use a collar cleaner for further breakdown and scrub with a brush. After scrubbing, spray the collar cleaner again and let it sit for half an hour. After half an hour, scrub repeatedly with a wet brush for two to three minutes. Next, wipe the chair with a wet cloth soaked in water. Finally, pour color-safe bleach onto the wet cloth soaked in water and apply it to the bloodstains, letting it sit for a while (continue to let it sit if the stains are not removed after half an hour). Then, wipe repeatedly with a clean damp cloth to remove any residual cleaning solution. It is recommended to perform a spot test before using color-safe bleach to avoid discoloring the chair.

Clean Based on Office Chair Material

  • Wooden/plastic stools: After wiping with cold water, you can use an alcohol spray for disinfection, but avoid prolonged soaking to prevent cracking.
  • Fabric/cushioned stools: After cleaning, dry them with a hairdryer on the cool setting or place them in a well-ventilated area to dry, preventing mold growth.
  • Leather/faux leather stools: Avoid using cleaning agents containing alcohol or strong acids and bases. Gently wipe with a dedicated leather cleaner and then apply hand cream or petroleum jelly for maintenance to keep the leather shiny and soft.

Other Precautions

During the cleaning process, avoid using hot water and strong acid or alkaline cleaning agents to prevent damaging the chair material or making the stains more difficult to remove.
