Office Chair Leg Rest

Admin October 09, 2026

Office chair leg rests mainly come in two types: two-piece leg rests and single-piece leg rests, which have significant differences in structure and characteristics.

Two-Piece Leg Rest

The structural feature of a two-piece leg rest is that there is only a single telescopic beam in the middle at the bottom of the seat cushion, with a flippable leg rest on each side of the beam. This design makes the pushing and pulling process very smooth, with basically no jamming issues. In terms of user experience, the two-piece leg rest provides users with a relatively smooth and convenient operation. Whether extending or retracting the leg rest, it can be done easily. Regarding price, computer chairs priced below 1,000 yuan rarely come with two-piece leg rests; they are usually found on high-priced computer chairs. This is because the design and manufacturing of two-piece leg rests are relatively complex, requiring higher craftsmanship and material costs. Therefore, only high-end computer chairs that focus on quality and user experience generally adopt this type of leg rest. For example, some high-end ergonomic computer chairs choose two-piece leg rests to provide users with a more comfortable and convenient experience, meeting their needs for leg support in different scenarios.

Single-Piece Leg Rest

The structure of a single-piece leg rest consists of a telescopic beam on each side at the bottom of the seat cushion, with a large leg rest sandwiched between the two beams. However, this design has an obvious drawback: when extending or retracting the leg rest, if the two telescopic beams tilt slightly, jamming will occur. This is mainly because many chairs with single-piece leg rests are old-style chairs that did not originally come with leg rests when they were first launched. There was no slot reserved in the middle at the bottom of the seat cushion to accommodate the telescopic beams, and the single-piece leg rest with double telescopic beams on both sides was added later. This retrofitting method restricts the installation and operation of the leg rest, causing the telescopic beams to be prone to instability during movement, which in turn leads to jamming problems.
