Office Chair Installation Guide

Admin October 09, 2026

Office chairs can be installed, and it is generally recommended to start from the bottom and work your way up. Here are the common installation steps and key points:

I. Installation of Basic Components

  1. Combination of Casters and Chair Base: Align the movable casters (usually universal wheels) with the slots on the five-star chair base, and press firmly to secure them. Some casters need to be fixed with screws, and the matching tools should be used to tighten them to ensure that the wheels rotate flexibly and are not loose.
  2. Installation of the Pneumatic Rod: Insert the pneumatic rod (lifting column) vertically into the hole in the center of the five-star chair base, ensuring that the insertion depth is sufficient and that it is perpendicular to the chair base. The pneumatic rod is the core component for adjusting the height of the chair, and its surface should be checked for scratches or air leaks.

II. Connection of the Chair Seat and the Chassis

  1. Fixing the Chassis: Align the chassis (which contains components for controlling lifting and rotation) with the screw holes on the bottom of the chair seat, and tighten the fixing screws with a screwdriver. Note that the direction of the chassis should match the design of the chair seat to avoid misalignment during subsequent installation.
  2. Connection of the Chair Seat and the Chair Back: Align the metal bracket or plastic buckle of the chair back with the installation position on the rear of the chair seat, and fix it with screws or buckles. For some chair backs, the mesh fabric or sponge pad needs to be installed in advance, and the material should be ensured to be flat and wrinkle-free.

III. Overall Assembly and Debugging

  1. Combination of the Pneumatic Rod and the Chair Seat: Align the assembled chair seat (including the chassis) with the top of the pneumatic rod and press down vertically until it is fully embedded. At this time, the lifting function of the chair can be tested to confirm that the pneumatic rod has no jamming or abnormal noise.
  2. Installation of Armrests and Headrests: According to the design, the armrests may be fixed to the sides of the chair seat or the bottom of the chair back with screws, and the holes should be aligned and tightened. The headrest is usually installed on the upper end of the chair back with buckles or screws, and it should be adjusted to a suitable height.
  3. Detail Inspection: Check that all screws are tightened to avoid safety hazards caused by looseness; test whether the rotation and lifting functions of the chair are normal; adjust the height of the armrests and the angle of the headrest to a comfortable position.

IV. Other Precautions

  • Component Verification: Before installation, count all the accessories (such as screws, gaskets, decorative covers, etc.) to avoid omissions.
  • Tool Preparation: Usually, tools such as a cross-head screwdriver and a wrench are required, and some chairs may come with special tools.
  • Safety Tips: Avoid tilting the pneumatic rod during installation to prevent the leakage of high-pressure gas inside; keep children away from the installation site.

Different brands or models of office chairs may have differences in the installation order. It is recommended to refer to the product manual or contact after-sales service for precise guidance first.
