Office Chair Installation and Adjustment

Admin October 19, 2026

The installation and adjustment of an office chair should follow a 'bottom-up' logic. The specific steps and precautions are as follows:

I. Installation Steps

  1. Install the Five-Star Base and Casters
Place the five-star base with its front side facing up and insert the casters into the holes one by one. For snap-on casters, press vertically until they are securely fastened; for threaded casters, tighten them clockwise. After installation, gently shake to check for firmness and avoid the risk of use due to looseness.

  2. Install the Gas Lift
Insert the thicker end of the gas lift vertically into the center hole of the five-star base and press firmly until it is fully inserted to the bottom. For some models, remove the plastic protective cap at the top end first to ensure a tight connection between the gas lift and the five-star base. The gas lift is the core load-bearing component, so be sure to confirm it is inserted properly.

  3. Install the Seat Base (Tray)
Flip the seat cushion so that its bottom faces up and align the tray with the pre-installed screw holes on the bottom. First, screw on the screws by hand, then gradually tighten all the screws using the 'diagonal tightening method' to ensure even force distribution and prevent the base from tilting or loosening.

  4. Connect the Seat to the Gas Lift
Lift the seat with the installed tray and align the center hole of the tray with the top end of the gas lift, then smoothly slide it down vertically. Maintain vertical alignment during operation to avoid damaging the gas lift or causing an unstable connection due to lateral force.

  5. Install the Backrest and Armrests

    • Backrest: Insert the bottom sides of the backrest into the installation positions on both sides of the seat cushion. First, use 2 C-screws to secure the bottom of the backrest from the bottom of the armrest bracket, then use two wrenches to lock the backrest and the seat bracket together with D-screws to ensure the backrest is stable and does not wobble.
    • Armrests: Distinguish between left and right armrests (the handles should tilt towards the front end of the seat cushion), align the installation holes with the holes on the seat cushion, and secure them with screws and washers. For example, the Baibaidiao P2 Pro+ requires 3 B-screws to be tightened to avoid omissions or looseness.
  6. Install the Headrest
Place the headrest in the middle position at the top of the backrest, press the installation area to make it fit, and tighten it with 2 E-screws through the fixing clips to ensure a firm connection between the headrest and the backrest and prevent it from falling off during use.

II. Functional Adjustments

  1. Seat Height Adjustment: Pull the lever upwards to adjust the height of the gas lift to suit different height requirements.
  2. Recline Adjustment: Pull the handle on the seat cushion upwards to recline at a large angle. Turn the knob to the left to loosen it for users with a smaller body weight, and turn it to the right to tighten it for users with a larger body weight to ensure smooth and safe recline function.
  3. Armrest Adjustment: Some models support vertical lifting and multi-angle adjustment. Adjust to a comfortable position according to usage habits.
  4. Lumbar Support Adjustment: Adjust the height of the lumbar support in multiple positions. It can be reset to the highest position to meet personalized lumbar support needs.

III. Precautions

  • Keep spare screws and tools during installation to prevent loss and affect subsequent adjustments.
  • It is recommended to use the 'diagonal tightening method' when tightening screws to avoid uneven force distribution that may cause component deformation or looseness.
  • The installation steps may vary slightly for different models of office chairs. Be sure to refer to the specific product's instruction manual or installation video to ensure correct operation.
