Office Chair Inspection Standards

Admin October 22, 2026

Office chair inspection standards cover five major aspects: test reports, performance indicators, export requirements, basic inspections, and management activities. Details are as follows:

I. Test Report Verification and Compliance Determination Criteria
It is necessary to verify that the report number matches the records in the testing agency's business system and confirm that the CMA (China Metrology Accreditation) and CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) seals are clearly visible. The client's name, product model, and manufacturer must fully correspond to the actual product, and the manufacturer's name must match that on the business license. The standards cited in the report must be current and valid versions, such as BIFMA X5.1 being the 2024 edition and GB/T 3325-2017 being within its transition period. Each report must correspond to a unique original record, and the testing agency can be requested to provide original test curves or data screenshots for auxiliary verification.

II. Core Performance Indicators and Compliance Thresholds
For stability testing, when a forward load of 102 kg is applied, the chair legs must not leave the ground; when a lateral load of 102 kg is applied, the armrests or seat edges must not touch the ground; and when a backward load of 102 kg is applied, the front legs must not lift more than 6 mm. For seat impact testing, a 102 kg sandbag must be dropped freely from a height of 140 mm onto the center of the seat, with no fractures or permanent deformations after impact. Drop testing requires dropping each of the eight corners and faces from a height of 460 mm once, with no cracks or weld failures in the structural components. For rotational durability testing, the chair must bear a load of 102 kg and rotate 360ยฐ at a frequency of 5-12 times per minute for 60,000 consecutive rotations without any stalling or abnormal noises in the rotating mechanism. For caster wear testing, the chair must bear a load of 102 kg and move at a speed of 0.33 m/s, with no damage to the casters after testing.

III. Core Requirements of EU Export Standards (EN1335)
The dimensions and adjustment ranges must meet the requirements, with the seat height adjustment range covering 38 cm to 51 cm and the seat depth limited to between 40 cm and 44 cm. Static stability testing requires applying an 80 kg load on a platform tilted at 10 degrees, with the chair not tipping forward or sideways. Dynamic stability testing requires simulating user actions such as standing up or leaning back to measure whether the chair legs leave the ground. Material durability verification includes seat impact testing (a rigid hemisphere with a diameter of 300 mm and a weight of 50 kg must be dropped freely from a height of 20 cm 10,000 times without cracking or deformation), armrest lateral load testing (a horizontal thrust of 300 Newtons must be applied and maintained for 1 minute, with the deformation not exceeding 10% of the width of the armrest palm), and surface abrasion resistance testing (the Martindale method must achieve more than 20,000 rubs without significant pilling or wear).

IV. Basic Inspection Items and Evaluation Criteria
The main dimensions must meet the design requirements, with a limit deviation of โ‰ค5 mm. The material requirements specify that the density and softness of the sponge must meet the design standards. Tubing and stamped parts must be free of overlapping seams, cracks, misalignments, or scabs, with smooth and consistent bends. The surface of engineering plastics must be smooth and free of cracks, bubbles, impurities, depressions, or ripples. Welding must be firm, without cold welds, burn-through, slag inclusions, missed welds, bubbles, or weld failures. Safety requires ensuring that there are no sharp edges or burrs on parts in contact with the human body and that the base fixing device is secure and reliable. Soft upholstery and sewing must be free of damage, with a full appearance and even stitching. Assembly parts must be easy to disassemble and assemble, with complete accessories and reliable connections after assembly. Casters must rotate and move smoothly, without damage, and be securely connected. The lifting and tilting mechanisms must be lightweight and flexible in operation, with smooth pneumatic lifting without air leaks and flexible and reliable angle adjustment mechanisms.

V. Company Management Activity Inspection and Evaluation Criteria
Organization requires that there be no unnecessary or useless items on desks and chairs or in drawers, with a clear distinction between essential and non-essential items. Rectification requires that items be neatly arranged, with frequently used items positioned and clearly labeled. Cleaning requires that the surfaces of desks and chairs, including legs and the insides and outsides of drawers, be clean and tidy, with no dirt on the chair surfaces or bottoms. Sanitation requires maintaining the results of organization, rectification, and cleaning, forming aๅธธๆ€ๅŒ– (normalized) maintenance mechanism. Discipline requires that employees consciously abide by regulations, returning desks and chairs to their proper positions and organizing items when leaving their seats. Safety requires that desks and chairs be structurally sound, without looseness or damage, and that no dangerous items be stored. Conservation requires the rational use of resources and timely reporting of damaged desks and chairs for repair.
