Office Chair Heightening Methods

Admin October 11, 2026

Office chairs can be heightened through the following two common and effective methods:

Install Chair Foot Risers

Chair foot risers are accessories specifically designed to increase the height of a chair. Their principle is to elevate the overall height by adding extra support structures to the bottom of the chair feet. When installing, note the following points: First, choose risers that match the size of the chair feet to ensure a stable and snug fit at the bottom, preventing sliding or wobbling due to size mismatches. Second, some risers come with fixing devices (such as screws, clips, etc.), which should be installed correctly according to the instructions to ensure a tight connection with the chair feet and prevent detachment during use. Finally, after installation, check the stability of the chair to ensure it does not tilt or wobble during normal use (such as sitting or moving). Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for most office chairs with fixed feet, especially those with metal or hard plastic feet.

Adjust the Pneumatic Rod (if the chair is equipped with one)

If the office chair is designed with a pneumatic rod (common in adjustable-height office chairs), height adjustment can be achieved by adjusting the pneumatic rod. The specific operation steps are as follows: First, locate the adjustment button under the chair (usually a circular or lever-type design, located at the center or side of the chair bottom). Second, while sitting firmly or ensuring the chair is stable, use one hand to lift the adjustment button upwards, and at the same time, use the other hand or your body to apply upward force (such as slightly standing up), at which point the chair will gradually rise under the action of the pneumatic rod. Finally, after reaching the desired height, release the adjustment button, and the chair will be fixed at the current position. Precautions: Keep the movement steady during adjustment to avoid sudden rises or falls of the chair due to excessive force. If the adjustment button is stuck or the chair cannot be raised or lowered, it may be due to an internal fault in the pneumatic rod, and professional maintenance personnel should be contacted for handling. Do not disassemble it yourself. Applicable Scenarios: Only suitable for adjustable-height office chairs equipped with a pneumatic rod. Before use, ensure that the chair functions properly.
