Office Chair Footrest Removal

Admin October 22, 2026

The removal of the footrest of an office chair can be carried out according to the following steps, and relevant safety precautions should be taken:

I. General Removal Steps

  1. Prepare Tools and Materials Prepare wrenches, screwdrivers (cross-shaped or flat-headed), rubber mallets, lubricants, and cleaning cloths in advance. For the footrests of the Sihoo C series (such as C300/C500), there are three fixing screws, and a special screw-removal tool is usually included inside the chair and can be used directly.

  2. Identify Screw Positions and Loosen Them The footrests of office chairs are mostly fixed to the base with screws. First, check the distribution positions of the screws. Use the corresponding screwdriver and wrench to loosen the screws. Some screws need to be rotated in the reverse direction (counterclockwise) to be loosened. If the screws are rusted or stuck, a small amount of lubricant can be sprayed to assist in loosening.

  3. Remove the Footrest Components After the screws are completely loosened, invert the chair base (it is recommended to place it on a soft surface to prevent scratches) and gently tap the connection between the footrest and the base with a rubber mallet. Note that the force should be even to avoid excessive force causing deformation of the footrest or cracking of the base. If the connection is too tight, tap around alternately to gradually separate it.

II. Precautions for Special Models

  • Sihoo C Series Footrests: Only three fixing screws need to be removed to complete the removal, and the operation is relatively simple. However, it should be noted that there may be a snap-fit design at the connection between the footrest and the chair body. Observe the structure before removal to avoid breaking plastic parts due to excessive pulling.

III. Safety and Maintenance Recommendations

  1. Avoid Unnecessary Removal: After long-term use, the gas rod and the chair feet may have a tightening effect due to friction. Forced removal can easily cause the gas rod to leak air or damage the chair feet. If there is no need to replace parts or clean, it is recommended to avoid removal.
  2. Operational Protection: Wear gloves during removal to prevent the screws from scratching your fingers. If using electric tools, control the speed to avoid damaging the chair body.
  3. Subsequent Maintenance: After removal, clean the contact surfaces between the base and the footrest to remove dust or rust. When reinstalling, apply a small amount of lubricant to the screw threads to facilitate subsequent removal and installation.

Tip: If you encounter problems such as stripped screws or inability to separate the footrest during removal, it is recommended to contact the brand's after-sales service or a professional repair person for handling to avoid further damage caused by self-operation.
