Office Chair Footrest Removal

Admin October 09, 2026

The removal of an office chair footrest requires appropriate methods based on different types and components. Here are the specific steps and key points:

Removal of the Footrest for Sihoo C Series C300/C500

The footrest of the Sihoo C Series C300 and C500 is firmly attached to the chair body with three screws. To remove it, use a suitable screwdriver (such as a Phillips screwdriver) to unscrew each of the three screws counterclockwise. During the operation, pay attention to the screw specifications and tightening force to avoid stripping the screws or damaging the footrest attachment due to excessive force. If the screws are rusted or difficult to turn, spray a small amount of rust remover or lubricant first, wait a moment, and then try to remove them again.

Removal of the Base of a General Office Chair

For a regular office chair, base removal usually requires separating the backrest from the seat cushion first (skip this step if it is an integrated design). Then, raise the gas lift to the highest position to increase the separation space between the base and the gas lift. During operation, hold the seat cushion firmly with one hand to prevent it from shaking or falling off; press the height adjustment lever with the other hand while gently shaking the base. Through repeated shaking, the connection between the base and the gas lift can be gradually loosened, and finally, the base can be removed. When shaking, pay attention to applying force evenly to avoid damaging the gas lift or the base due to excessive force.

Separation of the Gas Lift from the Chair Foot

If further removal of the gas lift is required, first separate the base from the gas lift. Then, place the chair foot upside down (with the wheels facing up) for easier operation. At this time, it is recommended to use a rubber mallet to gently tap the connection area between the gas lift and the chair foot, using vibration to separate the two. If a rubber mallet is not available, place a piece of wood between the chair foot and a hard object and then tap the wood with a regular hammer to avoid directly tapping and deforming the chair foot or gas lift. Tap from different angles to ensure even force on the connection area until the gas lift is completely removed.

Precautions: Wear gloves during the removal process to prevent scratches or pinches; if the components are severely rusted, it is recommended to deal with the rust first before removal; after removal, keep the screws and small parts properly to avoid loss.
