What Fabrics Are Used for Office Chairs
The fabrics used for office chairs mainly include natural textiles, suede-like materials, synthetic and functional fabrics, faux leather and tech fabrics, as well as other common materials, as detailed below:

Among natural textiles, cotton fabric is soft, highly absorbent, comfortable to the touch, and easy to clean. Linen fabric has a rustic and natural appearance, is highly eco-friendly, and feels healthy and soft. Cotton-linen blended fabric combines the softness of cotton with the strength of linen, resulting in a more stable structure, improved wear resistance, and reduced pilling. Thickened cotton-linen fabric offers better scratch resistance.
Suede-like materials, such as chenille and other velvet fabrics, have a plush surface, an extremely comfortable feel, and can enhance the elegance and warmth of a space, while also providing good warmth retention. However, special attention should be paid to cleaning. Daily cleaning can be done by gently brushing along the direction of the pile with a soft-bristled brush or using a vacuum cleaner to remove dust. For localized stains, a slightly damp soft cloth dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent can be used to gently wipe, followed by using a vacuum cleaner to remove moisture and allowing it to dry. Avoid large-area water washing, and for deep cleaning, it is recommended to entrust it to a professional dry cleaner.
Among synthetic and functional fabrics, Oxford cloth and canvas are durable and wear-resistant, with Oxford cloth offering better breathability, while canvas may feel slightly stuffy in summer. Mesh fabric is extremely breathable and cool, widely used in office chairs and gaming chairs, but has relatively weak support. PVC material or T/C cotton blend is suitable for occasions requiring high stain and water resistance, such as dining chairs. PVC has a smooth surface, is 100% waterproof, does not fade easily, and is extremely easy to clean. T/C blend combines waterproof, oil-resistant, and non-fading properties. Ordinary polyester-cotton blended fabric offers high cost-effectiveness, is washable and wear-resistant, and is commonly used in commercial fields such as hotel chair covers.
In terms of faux leather and tech fabrics, genuine leather is luxurious, durable, and easy to clean, but is expensive and requires more maintenance, and may feel stuffy in summer. Faux leather (artificial leather) is economical, wear-resistant, easy to clean, and does not deform easily, but has poor breathability and is less comfortable than genuine leather. Microfiber leather is closer to genuine leather in terms of feel and breathability, with excellent performance, but has a higher investment cost. Tech fabric adopts a structure of "faux leather texture on the surface + fabric base layer".
Among other common materials, genuine leather fabric offers good breathability and comfort, is suitable for long-term use in air-conditioned rooms, and is a preferred choice for high-end office environments, but is expensive and requires maintenance. PU fabric is a faux leather material, relatively cheaper than genuine leather, and may not be as durable, but normal maintenance can meet most office needs. Cotton fabric is breathable, soft, and comfortable, but easily attracts dust and stains and is not very dirt-resistant. Plastic fabric is usually made of hard plastic, has a hard sitting feel, and requires a cushion, but is easy to clean and store, suitable for temporary or simple office environments.
