How to Disassemble an Office Chair

Admin October 17, 2026

The disassembly of an office chair requires selecting the appropriate method based on its specific type. Here are the common disassembly steps:

Belcram Office Chair BC03Q Premium Edition

  1. Headrest Disassembly: Pull the headrest to its highest position, press down hard on the thin metal strip in the middle, and pull it out once the locking mechanism is loose. If it is difficult to operate, you can use a discarded hard card to help loosen the buckle.
  2. Armrest Disassembly: Invert the chair on a high platform and use the hex wrench that comes with the box to loosen the fixing screws under the armrests.
  3. Backrest and Base Separation: Use a hex wrench to remove the screws at the connection between the backrest and the base to complete the separation.
  4. Five-Star Base and Gas Spring Separation: Use a rubber mallet (if a rubber mallet is not available, a regular hammer can be used, but it will be noisier) to strike the five feet of the five-star base upwards respectively to detach them from the gas spring.
  5. Gas Spring and Base Separation: Strike the steel plate of the base with a rubber mallet to separate the gas spring from the base.
  6. Wheel Disassembly: Simply pull off the wheels on the five-star base with force.

General Office Chairs

  1. Structural Understanding: An office chair usually consists of parts such as chair legs, casters, a chassis, a seat, a gas rod, a backrest, armrests, and a headrest.
  2. Regular Disassembly: Perform operations in the reverse order of installation and use a screwdriver to loosen the connecting screws of each part. Dealing with Difficulties:
    • Seat and Gas Rod Separation: First, separate the backrest, raise the gas rod to its highest position, hold the seat cushion with one hand, press the lifting lever with the other hand, and shake it several times to remove it.
    • Gas Rod and Chair Leg Separation: Invert the chair legs and strike the top of the gas rod with a rubber mallet; if a rubber mallet is not available, you can place a wooden board at the contact point between the gas rod and the chair legs and then strike it.

Special Disassembly Method (Applicable to Some Office Chairs)

Face the chair directly, step on the five-star base with your feet, pull the lifting lever upwards to raise the chair to its highest position (keep the lever unreleased), hold both sides of the chair with your hands, adjust the degree of force according to the service life of the chair (the longer the service life, the more force is required), shake it left and right, and pull out the gas rod upwards.
