Office Chair Daily Use and Maintenance
Admin October 10, 2026
When using office chairs daily, attention should be paid to both healthy usage and routine maintenance.

Healthy Usage
- Precisely Adjust Seat Height: Ensure that both feet are flat on the ground, forming an obtuse angle of approximately 95 to 100 degrees between the thighs and calves. This effectively reduces pressure on the knee joints and legs. If the seat is too high and feet are dangling, leg muscles will remain tense for extended periods, leading to fatigue and discomfort. Conversely, if the seat is too low, the knee bending angle will be too large, compressing blood vessels and nerves.
- Adjust Seating Posture Angle: Lean back slightly, maintaining a seating angle of 100 to 110 degrees, allowing the back, especially the lower back, to fit snugly against the chair back. If there is a lumbar support, adjust it to the point that supports the natural curve of the lumbar spine, providing good support for the lower back, reducing lumbar pressure, and preventing lower back diseases.
- Set Armrest Height Appropriately: The height of the armrests should be adjusted so that when the elbows hang naturally, the forearms can rest easily on the armrests or desktop, with the upper and forearms forming an angle close to 100 degrees. This relaxes the arm muscles and prevents muscle fatigue caused by the arms hanging or being excessively bent.
- Adjust Monitor Position: The top of the monitor should be level with the line of sight, keeping the neck in a natural upright position, reducing neck extension or flexion, and preventing the onset of cervical spondylosis.
- Avoid Prolonged Sitting: Even with perfect posture, prolonged sitting remains a health hazard. Every 30 to 40 minutes, use the chair to perform simple stretches, such as hip stretches, back rotation releases, and shoulder-opening exercises, to break the static state, promote blood circulation, and relieve muscle fatigue.
Routine Maintenance
- Seat Surface Cleaning: For common fabric or mesh seat surfaces, regularly vacuum to remove dust. When dealing with stains, gently wipe with water or a neutral detergent, avoiding vigorous scrubbing to prevent damage to the seat material. For solid wood chair legs, simply wipe with a dry cloth to remove dust, avoiding moisture to prevent wood deformation from dampness. When cleaning leather seat surfaces, exercise extra caution, avoiding harsh detergents. Regular use of leather conditioner maintains their softness and luster.
- Safety Detail Inspection: Regularly inspect the chair leg casters, removing any tangled hair or fibers to ensure smooth movement. Check all connection screws for looseness and tighten them promptly to prevent the chair from wobbling or being damaged during use, ensuring safety.
