Inside of Office Chair Cushion
The internal materials of office chair cushions mainly include three types: sponge, mesh fabric, and memory foam, with their internal structures varying depending on the material type.

Sponge Cushion: The scientific name for sponge is polyurethane soft foam rubber, which is a type of foam. Its manufacturing materials include polyol compounds, organic polyisocyanates, and various additives such as catalysts, foaming agents, and flame retardants. These materials undergo a series of reactions including chain growth, foaming, cross-linking, and curing in a foaming mold to form the sponge. From a microscopic perspective, the sponge exhibits a three-dimensional honeycomb-like grid structure, and its elasticity originates from the elastic deformation of this structure. Moreover, the elasticity of the sponge is closely related to the sponge type (the raw materials and ratios used in foaming) and the foaming process, and is positively correlated with the density of the sponge. In terms of preparation processes, sponge materials can be divided into two categories: cut sponge and molded sponge. Cut sponge is made by cutting a large block of foamed sponge into smaller pieces according to the desired shape; while the shape of the foaming box (mold) for molded sponge is the final desired shape of the sponge, allowing for direct molding.
Mesh Fabric Cushion: It is equipped with elastic fibers or springs and other supporting components inside. Under long-term and frequent use with high intensity, the internal supporting structure may gradually deform, leading to the collapse of the cushion. The likelihood of collapse varies among mesh cushions of different qualities. Mesh fabric cushions of better quality, which use higher-quality materials and more robust supporting frames, may experience collapse later; while lower-quality mesh fabric cushions may show significant collapse after a relatively short period of use.
Memory Foam Cushion: Taking the coccyx-relieving memory foam cushion as an example, its internal filler is memory foam. Memory foam has good resilience and is less likely to collapse even after sitting for a long time.
