Office Chair Cleaning Methods
Admin October 08, 2026
The cleaning methods for office chairs vary depending on their materials and structures, requiring targeted treatment to ensure effective cleaning and avoid damage.

I. Cleaning by Material Type
Mesh Office Chairs
- Basic Cleaning: Use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove dust from the surface and crevices, preventing stains from penetrating the fabric.
- Deep Stain Removal: Spray diluted cleaning solution onto the chair surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to break down stains. Use a steam cleaner or high-temperature washing machine to alternate between suction and washing at least twice, and promptly dry with a water absorber to speed up the drying process.
- Comprehensive Process: For thorough cleaning, follow steps such as brushing, pre-treating stubborn stains, water circulation rinsing, and steam deep sterilization to ensure no residue remains inside the fabric.
Fabric Chairs
- Surface Stain Treatment: Gently wipe stained areas with a damp cloth only; avoid using brushes to prevent fabric pilling. For overall dirt, dilute the cleaning solution and apply evenly, then rinse with clean water and thoroughly dry to prevent water stains.
Leather Chairs
- Daily Maintenance: Gently wipe dust with a soft, dry cloth. For stains, wipe with a damp cloth and immediately dry to prevent water from penetrating the leather and causing cracking. Allow natural air drying and avoid high-temperature baking.
Solid Wood Chairs
- Dust Removal: Wipe the surface with a dry cloth and use cotton swabs to clean crevices thoroughly. For oil stains, apply a specialized cleaning solution first, rinse with a small amount of clean water, and dry to prevent the wood from absorbing moisture and rotting.
II. Comprehensive Deep Cleaning Process
- Thorough Vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to completely remove surface dust and debris from crevices.
- Foam Penetration: Spray professional foam cleaner to cover the chair surface and crevices, letting it sit for 3-5 minutes for the cleaner to penetrate the fabric.
- High-Temperature Disinfection: Treat the chair surface with high-temperature steam equipment at a temperature above 70ยฐC to kill bacteria and soften stubborn stains.
III. Specialized Cleaning for Casters
- Hair Removal: Carefully cut tangled hair with fine-tipped scissors to avoid damaging the wheel axles.
- Dirt Removal: Wrap a damp, textured face cloth around the wheels, secure with a rubber band, and sit on the chair to move back and forth, using friction to remove dirt. Alternatively, use invisible tape to pick up dirt from the wheel surface, ensuring the tape is applied in a wavy pattern to increase friction.
Precautions: Confirm material characteristics before cleaning to avoid using corrosive cleaners. Maintain a safe distance when operating high-temperature equipment to prevent burns. Keep solid wood chairs away from humid environments and regularly use maintenance oil on leather chairs to maintain their luster.
