Office Chair Bottom Installation

Admin October 17, 2026

The installation steps for the bottom of an office chair are as follows:

Step 1: Install the Chair Wheels Insert each chair wheel into the assembly holes of the five-claw base, ensuring that each wheel is fully embedded and securely fixed. Some installation instructions mention that this step can also be understood as assembling the five wheels onto the five-claw base first to form a movable support structure. Note that the wheels should be oriented in the same direction to avoid uneven rolling after installation.

Step 2: Install the Pneumatic Rod Align the thicker end of the pneumatic rod with the central hole of the five-claw base, insert it vertically, and ensure full contact at the bottom. The pneumatic rod is the core component for adjusting the seat height. When inserting, maintain vertical alignment to avoid damaging the pneumatic rod or destabilizing the seat due to tilting. Some instructions simplify this step as โ€œinsert the pneumatic rod,โ€ but the core operation remains the same.

Step 3: Secure the Base Plate to the Seat Cushion Place the base plate on the bottom of the seat cushion, paying attention to distinguish the front and back directions (usually, the base plate has markings or grooves that correspond to the seat cushion structure). After aligning the four screw holes, first insert four B screws (or long screws) one by one and tighten them 3-4 turns to initially fix the position; once all screws are in place, tighten them one by one to ensure a secure connection between the base plate and the seat cushion. Some installation methods emphasize โ€œnot tightening completely at firstโ€: for example, after placing the base frame, use long thin screws to initially fix it, then tighten all screws uniformly after they are all installed, and adjust the position of the base frame (such as bending it to the sides) to fit the seat structure, and finally install the anti-slip pads. This step requires flexible adjustment according to the base plate design, with the core principle being to ensure that the base plate and seat cushion are not loose and that the screws are evenly stressed.

Step 4: Connect the Seat Cushion to the Pneumatic Rod Align the assembled seat cushion (including the base plate) with the top of the pneumatic rod and insert it vertically downward into the hole of the base plate until you hear a โ€œclickโ€ sound or can no longer press it down, indicating that it is properly connected. This step requires ensuring that the top end of the pneumatic rod is fully embedded in the interface of the base plate to avoid seat wobbling or height adjustment failure.

Precautions:

  1. Before installation, check that all accessories are complete (five-claw base, chair wheels, pneumatic rod, base plate, seat cushion, screws, and anti-slip pads).
  2. Keep components vertical during operation to avoid damaging interfaces due to tilting.
  3. Tighten screws in stages to prevent base plate deformation or seat cushion misalignment.
  4. After installation, test the seat functions (height adjustment, rotation, and movement) to ensure they are normal.
