Under the Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

The underside of an office chair is typically equipped with knobs or devices for adjustment functions, mainly including adjusting the backrest hardness, adjusting the chair height, locking and unlocking functions, and the air pressure rod control device, etc.

Adjusting the Backrest Hardness: An office chair often comes with a knob underneath for adjusting the hardness of the backrest. When rotated clockwise, the backrest gradually becomes harder, providing stronger support, suitable for users who need to maintain a fixed sitting posture for a long time or require strong back support. Conversely, rotating the knob counterclockwise makes the backrest softer, offering more flexible support, suitable for users who need to frequently adjust their sitting posture or prefer a soft backrest. This design enables the office chair to adapt to the back needs of different users, enhancing comfort.

Adjusting the Chair Height: An office chair usually has a lever underneath for adjusting the chair height. By rotating this lever up or down, users can easily adjust the chair height. Rotating the lever upwards raises the chair, suitable for taller users or scenarios where a certain height needs to be maintained with the desk. Rotating the lever downwards lowers the chair, suitable for shorter users or scenarios where a lower sitting posture is desired. This height adjustment function allows the office chair to adapt to the height and usage needs of different users.

Locking and Unlocking Functions: Some office chairs also have a lever underneath for locking and unlocking the chair state. When the lever is pushed inwards, the chair is locked in its current state, preventing height or backrest adjustments, suitable for scenarios where a fixed sitting posture is required. Pulling the lever outwards unlocks the chair, allowing users to readjust the chair height or backrest hardness. This design makes the office chair more stable and safe during use.

Air Pressure Rod Control Device: Some high-end office chairs have a circular knob underneath the seat for controlling the air pressure rod. The air pressure rod is filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas, generating elastic force through gas pressure differences to enable smooth movement of the lifting shaft. Users can rotate this knob to adjust the support force and cushioning effect of the air pressure rod, achieving more precise height adjustment and sitting comfort adjustment. This design makes the office chair more stable and comfortable during lifting and lowering.
