Construction Method of Office Chair Base

Admin October 12, 2026

A construction method for an office chair base includes a base, a top plate, a control device, and a reset device, which work together to limit and reset the rotation angle of the top plate.

Base Structure

The base consists of a base component and a top plate. The top plate is installed on the base in a rotatable manner, forming a basic structure for relative movement and providing a mounting carrier for subsequent control and reset functions.

Control Device Structure and Principle

The control device is used to limit the rotation angle of the top plate. Its core components include a handle, a rotating block, a connecting rod, and a locking tongue. One end of the handle extends into the base and is connected to the rotating block. When the handle is rotated, the rotating block rotates accordingly, driving the connecting rod to move. The connecting rod is connected to the locking tongue, which has a protrusion, and a corresponding groove is provided on the top plate. When the connecting rod moves to insert the protrusion of the locking tongue into the groove of the top plate, the top plate is locked at a specific angle and cannot rotate further; if the protrusion detaches from the groove, the top plate can rotate freely. This design achieves precise control over the rotation angle of the top plate through simple mechanical transmission, allowing users to adjust the top plate angle according to their needs by operating the handle.

Reset Device Structure and Principle

The reset device is designed to force the top plate to return to its original position. It mainly consists of a compression spring, a locking cap, and a bolt. One end of the compression spring is connected to the bottom surface of the base, and the other end is connected to the inner wall of the locking cap, which is screwed onto the bolt that is fixed to the top plate. When the top plate rotates, the compression spring is stretched or compressed, generating elastic potential energy. When the control device releases the limitation on the top plate (i.e., the protrusion of the locking tongue detaches from the groove of the top plate), the compression spring releases the elastic potential energy, driving the top plate back to its initial position through the locking cap and the bolt. This ensures that the office chair can automatically return to its original position after use, facilitating the next use.

Workflow Summary

The workflow of the entire base is as follows: rotate the handle to drive the rotating block to rotate, which in turn moves the connecting rod. The connecting rod drives the locking tongue to move, inserting or detaching the protrusion from the groove of the top plate, thereby limiting the top plate angle or allowing it to return to its original position. At the same time, the compression spring in the reset device stores energy when the top plate rotates and releases energy when the limitation is released, assisting the top plate in resetting.
