Office Chair Backrest Patch

Admin October 19, 2026

The repair method for an office chair backrest patch should be selected based on the material and the extent of the damage. Here are the repair methods for common materials:

Wooden Backrest Chair Repair

  1. Minor Crack Treatment: If there are small cracks in the wooden backrest, first fill the cracks with wood wax. After the wood wax has penetrated and dried, sand the surface until it is smooth. This method is suitable for minor damage, restoring surface smoothness and preventing the cracks from expanding.
  2. Severe Damage Repair: If the damaged area is large or the structure is broken, a wooden patch needs to be made:
    • Use a drill and saw to cut a piece of wood that matches the shape and size of the damaged area;
    • Apply wood glue to the contact surfaces of the patch and the chair back, secure it, and then reinforce it with screws (the screws should be recessed into the wood surface);
    • After the glue has completely dried, sand the edges of the patch until they blend smoothly with the chair back;
    • Finally, fill the gaps with wood wax and apply color to ensure the color matches the original chair back.
  3. Wooden Dowel and Glued Wood Repair: Suitable for local holes or missing parts:
    • Drill a hole in the damaged area of the chair back that matches the size of the glued wood;
    • Insert the tapered glued wood into the hole and tap it with a wooden mallet until it fits snugly;
    • Trim the head of the wooden dowel so that it is flush with the surface of the chair back to avoid scratches.

Leather or Upholstered Material Repair

For damaged leather or upholstered backrest chairs, it is recommended to use self-adhesive leather repair patches:

  • Choose a repair patch that matches the texture of the original material (such as่”ๆž็บนPVC leather patches, PU self-adhesive patches). These materials are waterproof and wear-resistant, suitable for repairing soft upholstery such as car seats and sofas;
  • After cleaning the damaged area, peel off the protective film on the back of the repair patch, stick it directly, and press it flat. The edges can be slightly heated with a hot air gun to enhance adhesion.

Swivel Chair Backrest Repair

If there are cracks or gaps in the backrest of a swivel chair, a simple repair can be carried out:

  • Fill the cracks with strong glue (such as AB glue), and sand the surface after it dries;
  • If it is a leather material, apply a leather repair agent to the cracks, smooth it out with a scraper, and let it dry naturally.

Precautions: Before repairing, assess the extent of the damage. If it involves structural safety (such as a broken load-bearing part of the chair back), it is recommended to contact a professional for repair or replace the parts. After repairing, check the firmness of the patch to avoid secondary damage.
