Office Chair Backrest Material
The common materials for office chair backrests are mesh and leather, with the following specific characteristics:

Mesh Material
Mesh chair backrests are primarily made of polyester fiber blended with nylon fiber, with the core advantage of excellent breathability. The mesh structure between the fibers forms air circulation channels, enabling rapid heat dissipation. Even after prolonged sitting, it is less likely to cause a stuffy feeling, making it particularly suitable for summer or high-temperature environments. Additionally, the moderate elasticity of the mesh provides stable support, dispersing back pressure and reducing fatigue. However, its physical properties have certain limitations: the mesh surface is prone to snagging by sharp objects (such as keys and zippers), leading to local damage; the weight-bearing capacity is usually at a medium level (about 100-120 kilograms), and excessive weight may accelerate deformation. For daily maintenance, avoid contact with sharp objects and regularly clean the dust with a soft-bristled brush.
Leather Material
Leather chair backrests are divided into two categories: PU leather and genuine leather (top-grain/split-grain cowhide).
- PU Leather: It simulates the texture of genuine leather through chemical synthesis, with a smooth surface and strong abrasion resistance, capable of withstanding daily scratches. Its waterproof and splash-resistant properties make cleaning convenient, and stains can be removed by simply wiping with a damp cloth. However, its breathability is relatively poor, and prolonged use may cause a sticky feeling due to back sweating, making it suitable for scenarios with high requirements for cleaning convenience and moderate usage frequency.
- Genuine Leather: Made from animal leather, top-grain cowhide retains the complete fiber layer, offering excellent breathability and comfort, and can develop a natural luster over time. Split-grain cowhide has slightly weaker breathability but is more affordable. Genuine leather is highly durable and can last for 5-10 years under normal use, but it requires regular maintenance (such as applying special care oil) to avoid cracking due to exposure to sunlight or humid environments. Its price is usually 2-3 times that of PU leather, making it suitable for users with sufficient budgets who pursue quality.
When choosing, consider the usage scenario: mesh is suitable for environments with high breathability requirements; PU leather focuses on easy cleaning; genuine leather combines texture and durability.
