Office Chair Backrest Flattening

Admin October 10, 2026

The main methods for flattening the backrest of an office chair include the wire-controlled switch adjustment method, the small gas cylinder inspection method, and the adjustment handle method. Some specially designed chairs can directly achieve a large-angle backward tilt for flattening.

Wire-Controlled Switch Adjustment Method: The wire-controlled switch is a key component for controlling the angle of the office chair's backrest. First, open the wire-controlled switch and observe whether it automatically closes. If it does not close, there may be three situations: First, the wire control is loose. In this case, adjust the nut to lengthen the distance and restore the wire control to normal function. Second, the wire control is broken. In this situation, a new wire control needs to be replaced to ensure the normal function of backrest angle adjustment. Third, the wire control is detached. Simply reattach the terminal to make the wire control work again, thereby enabling the adjustment of the backrest angle.

Small Gas Cylinder Inspection Method: If the wire-controlled switch is functioning properly, then the small gas cylinder needs to be inspected. Gently press the thin end of the gas cylinder with your hand to feel for air pressure. If there is no air pressure and the gas cylinder can easily retract, it indicates a malfunction in the gas cylinder, and a new one needs to be replaced. Since the air pressure state of the small gas cylinder directly affects the support and adjustment functions of the backrest, only with normal air pressure can the backrest achieve a smooth flattening operation.

Adjustment Handle Method: Adjustable office chairs are generally equipped with an adjustment handle, usually located on the right side of the seat. When using it, first sit on the computer chair, find the adjustment handle, pull the handle while gently leaning backward with your back, and then release the handle. The backrest will be fixed at the corresponding angle. If you want to adjust the backrest back, continue pulling the handle and apply a slight force with your back, and the chair back will spring back to its original position. The operation for flattening the backrest usually involves a lever under the right armrest, which can also be used to achieve backrest flattening.

In addition, some office chairs are designed with special features. For example, the Yongyi M60 second-generation ergonomic chair has a 145ยฐ large-angle backward tilt function, which can directly achieve a large-angle backrest flattening, providing users with a more comfortable rest experience.
