Office Chair Backrest Fixation

Admin October 11, 2026

The methods for fixing the backrest of an office chair mainly fall into two scenarios: installation fixation and adjustment locking. The specific operations are as follows:

I. Fixation Methods During Installation

When assembling an office chair, the connection between the backrest and the seat cushion needs to be fixed with screws. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Initial Bottom Fixation: Align the two sides at the bottom of the backrest with the installation positions on the armrests of the seat cushion and insert them, ensuring that the contact surfaces between the backrest and the seat cushion are fully in contact.
  2. Screw Reinforcement:
    • Use two C-screws to pass upward from the bottom of the armrest bracket and fix the connection between the bottom of the backrest and the armrests. In this step, ensure that the screws are tightened to prevent the backrest from wobbling.
    • Align the installation holes at the back of the backrest with those on the seat cushion bracket and use a D-screw for double-wrench locking fixation. When operating, hold the position of the backrest with one hand and use wrenches to alternately tighten the screws with the other hand to ensure a firm connection.

II. Reclining Lock Adjustment for Installed Backrests

If you need to fix the angle of an installed backrest (e.g., to prevent reclining), operate according to the type of adjustment mechanism:

  1. Knob-type Locking:
    • Locate the round knob at the bottom or side of the chair. Turning it clockwise increases the resistance of the backrest.
    • Continue turning until the backrest can no longer recline, thus completing the locking. Turning it counterclockwise unlocks it and allows for angle adjustment.
  2. Lever-type Locking:
    • The lever is usually located on the side or bottom of the chair and is marked with 'Lock/Unlock' indicators.
    • Move the lever to the 'Lock' position to fix the backrest at the current angle; move it back to its original position to restore the adjustment function.
  3. Button-type Locking:
    • Some chairs are equipped with a dedicated button. Pressing it automatically locks the backrest; pressing it again or adjusting the angle and then releasing it unlocks it.

Precautions:

  • If the backrest still cannot be fixed after adjustment, check whether the screws are loose or whether the adjustment mechanism is damaged. It is recommended to consult the instruction manual or contact the manufacturer for repair.
  • Avoid violent operation of the adjustment components to prevent damage to the internal structure.

By following the above methods, you can achieve a firm connection of the office chair backrest during the installation stage or flexibly lock the reclining angle according to your needs, ensuring safety and comfort during use.
