Office Chair Backrest Assembly
The assembly of an office chair backrest should be carried out step by step according to the specific type, with the core processes including basic installation, screw fixation, and handling of special situations. The specific methods are as follows:

I. Basic Installation
After connecting the seat cushion to the gas lift, align the buckles or pins on both sides of the bottom of the backrest with the installation positions on the armrests of the seat cushion. Insert them vertically downwards and press gently to ensure they are properly engaged. In this step, pay attention to matching the orientation of the backrest and the seat cushion to avoid incorrect installation that could lead to misalignment of the screw holes later. For some chair models, the armrest brackets may need to be installed first. In this case, fix the brackets to the seat cushion before inserting the backrest.
II. Screw Fixation
- Bottom Fixation: Use two C-type screws (usually M6 or M8 specifications) to insert them upwards from the bottom of the armrest brackets into the pre-threaded holes at the bottom of the backrest. It is recommended to initially screw them in by hand to confirm that the holes are aligned, and then use a screwdriver or power tool to tighten them to avoid slipping.
- Back Locking: Align the installation holes on the back of the backrest with those on the seat cushion brackets. Use D-type screws (mostly long bolts) along with two wrenches for locking fixation. During the operation, one person should hold the backrest steady while the other uses a wrench to fix the nut end and another wrench to rotate the bolt end until the screws are fully tightened and the backrest is free of wobbling. This step can prevent deformation of the brackets due to unilateral force.
III. Installation of Other Types of Backrests (Taking Computer Chairs as an Example)
- Backrest and Armrest Connection: Use 6*30mm medium-length screws to lock the connection between the backrest and the armrests. After aligning the holes, manually screw them in 2-3 turns initially and do not fully tighten them yet to facilitate subsequent angle adjustment.
- Armrest and Seat Cushion Fixation: Align the holes on the armrests with those on the seat cushion and tighten them clockwise with 6*30mm screws. After all the screws are initially fixed, check whether the backrest is vertical and the armrests are horizontal. Once confirmed, tighten each screw one by one to ensure structural stability.
IV. Handling of Special Situations
If the backrest is broken, first clean the dust and burrs on the fracture surface, apply AB glue (such as epoxy resin glue) for bonding, and install stainless steel connecting plates (with a recommended thickness of โฅ2mm) on both sides of the fracture and fix them with screws. To enhance strength, wrap the side with stainless steel straps (with a width of โฅ10mm) for reinforcement, and tighten the straps until there is no looseness. After repair, let it stand for 24 hours until the glue is fully cured before use.
Precautions: Before assembly, check the parts list to ensure that the screw specifications match the holes. Avoid applying excessive force during operation to prevent cracking of plastic parts. If there is a hole misalignment, do not force the screws in. Check whether any gaskets are missing or if the brackets are deformed.
