Office Chair Back Structure
The back structure of an office chair mainly includes several key parts: frame structure, frame shape, lumbar support, backrest material, and the connection between the chair back and the seat.

Frame Structure: There are two types: integrated and independent. The integrated structure is commonly found in leather chairs, where the seat and the backrest are molded as one piece from curved plywood (plywood), often used in the office settings of corporate leaders. However, this structure has certain drawbacks; when the user leans back, there may be a situation where the buttocks sink. In the independent structure, the backrest is a separate unit connected to the chassis through a specific mechanism, making leaning operations more convenient. Additionally, the elasticity (hardness) of the backrest's leaning motion is usually adjustable, better meeting the needs of different users.
Frame Shape: In shoulder design, the corners of the left and right shoulders should be relatively rounded. This design is not only less prone to dirt, wear, and fraying but also enhances safety during use. At the same time, the shoulders should not be rolled inward, as this can cause a sense ofๅ่ฟซๆ (pressure) or entrapment for the user. Regarding waist shape, the 2D shape has become widely adopted, providing forward convex support for the lumbar spine. The 3D shape is even more superior, with a forward convex lumbar spine and inward-rolled waist indentations on both sides, fully conforming to the body's waist curve, dispersing support pressure, and offering a more comfortable sitting experience.
Lumbar Support: Many office chairs are equipped with lumbar supports. To accommodate different body postures and sitting positions, it is best for the lumbar support to have adjustable functions for up, down, forward, and backward movements. This allows users to adjust the position of the lumbar support according to their own needs, obtaining better lumbar support.
Backrest Material: The materials used for office chair backrests generally include mesh, fabric, and leather. For personal use, it is recommended to choose mesh or cowhide materials. Mesh offers good breathability, keeping the user comfortable during long periods of sitting. Cowhide is soft and has a certain degree of breathability. When choosing a leather chair, bulky and outdated styles should be avoided, and preference should be given to lightweight leather chairs with separate back and seat designs, although these chairs tend to be relatively more expensive.
Connection Between Chair Back and Seat: The seat and the backrest are usually designed as separate units and connected using steel pipes or steel plates. The thickness of the steel plate is generally 6mm or 8mm, but when the width of the steel plate is less than 6cm, an 8mm-thick steel plate must be used to ensure the stability and safety of the connection.
