Office Chair Back Broken

Admin October 11, 2026

If the back of an office chair is broken, you can choose the appropriate repair method based on the type of damage:

  • Loose connections: If the connection points at the back of the office chair are loose, find suitable screws or nuts to tighten and reinforce them. Prepare tools such as screwdrivers, carefully check the positions of the screws and nuts, and identify the loose parts. When tightening the screws, pay attention to applying moderate force to avoid over-tightening, which can cause the screws to strip. If you find that the nuts are worn, it is best to replace them with new ones to ensure a secure connection.
  • Broken components: For a broken backrest component, there are two repair methods. One is to use strong adhesive. First, clean the broken surfaces thoroughly. Then, evenly apply the adhesive in a dry and well-ventilated environment. Align the broken parts and paste them together, and wait for them to dry completely. After pasting, you can use a heavy object to apply moderate pressure to help the adhesive cure. The other method is to find a suitable piece of wood or plastic board. Measure the size according to the shape and size of the backrest, and fix it to the outer side of the broken part of the backrest with screws or nails to provide reinforcement and support. Screw fixation is relatively more secure. When installing, pay attention to the depth and angle of the drilled holes.
  • Damaged support structure: If the support structure of the backrest is damaged, find metal pipes or wooden strips of the same specifications for replacement. After cutting them to the appropriate length, use tools to install them in place. You can use methods such as welding or screw connections to ensure a tight connection and restore the normal support function of the backrest.
  • Fabric damage: When the fabric of the backrest is damaged, if the damaged area is small, you can buy fabric similar in color to the chair and sew it up with a needle and thread. If the damaged area is large, you can remove the fabric of the entire backrest, cut a new piece of suitable fabric to wrap it, and fix it with adhesive or nails.
  • Inelastic springs: If the springs of the backrest lose their elasticity, causing the backrest to fail to rebound normally, consider replacing the springs. First, turn the chair over, find the fixing points of the springs, carefully remove the old springs, install the new springs, and ensure they are firmly installed and can function properly.
