Inspection of Office Chair Accessories
The inspection of office chair accessories mainly revealed two types of problems: unqualified reciprocating wear of casters and substandard quality of five-star bases.

Unqualified reciprocating wear of casters is one of the more prominent issues. In the spot checks conducted by the State Administration for Market Regulation, five batches of products failed to meet the standards in this regard, including office chairs produced by Anji Baocheng Furniture Co., Ltd. Casters, as key components for the mobility of office chairs, are crucial in terms of reciprocating wear performance. If this performance is unqualified, it means that during the frequent daily movement of office chairs, the casters will wear out more quickly. Worn-out casters may experience issues such as inflexible rotation, jamming, or even damage. This not only affects the normal use of office chairs and reduces the user's operational experience but may also cause the user to lose balance and fall due to sudden caster failures, posing certain safety hazards.
The substandard quality of five-star bases is also not to be ignored. The five-star base of a swivel chair is an important component that bears the entire weight of the office chair. During testing, there were cases where the base broke under static load tests. If the quality of the five-star base is poor, it is prone to breakage during use. Once the five-star base breaks, the office chair will lose its support, and the user is highly likely to fall and get injured directly. This risk is further increased for individuals who are heavier or who make large-amplitude movements during use. Moreover, a broken five-star base may also cause damage to surrounding people and objects, triggering more serious safety incidents.
The problems discovered in these spot checks reflect loopholes in the quality control of accessories by some office chair manufacturers. Enterprises should strengthen management in aspects such as raw material procurement, production processes, and finished product inspections to ensure that the quality of office chair accessories meets relevant standard requirements. At the same time, regulatory authorities should also continue to increase the intensity of supervision and spot checks to safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
