National Standard for Office Chairs
The national standard for office chairs mainly includes height standards and other related standards, as detailed below:

Height Standards: The standard height range for adult office chairs is 40 - 50 centimeters, calculated based on ergonomics. Different heights are suitable for people of different statures; for example, men commonly use chairs at 43 centimeters, while women should use chairs at corresponding benchmark heights. Office chairs need to have adjustable functions, with mainstream pneumatic rods offering a wide range of adjustability to accommodate people of different heights. For instance, individuals who are 160 centimeters tall are recommended to adjust their office chairs to 42 - 43 centimeters, those who are 165 centimeters tall are suitable for 43 - 45 centimeters, and those who are 170 centimeters tall should ideally adjust to 45 - 47 centimeters. When adjusted to the appropriate height, one should be able to place both feet flat on the ground while sitting, with thighs and calves kept perpendicular. This height setting conforms to the natural sitting posture of the human body, helping to reduce physical fatigue and improve work comfort.
Other Related Standards: The standard "Office Furniture - Reading Tables, Chairs, and Stools" (GB/T 14531 - 2017) sets requirements for the dimensions and physicochemical properties of furniture such as reading tables, chairs, and stools. This standard was officially implemented on July 1, 2018, and is under the supervision of the China National Light Industry Council. It covers specific requirements for the dimensions and specifications of office chairs, as well as standards for their physical and chemical properties, such as load-bearing capacity, material wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, ensuring the safety and durability of office chairs during use. Currently, GB/T 14531โ2017 "Office Furniture - Reading Tables, Chairs, and Stools" has been included in the 2025 national standard revision plan. With the continuous development of market technology and to achieve coordination and uniformity among related standards, this standard will be revised to better meet market demands and industry development trends, providing consumers with higher-quality office chair products that are more in line with actual usage conditions.
