Mobile Office Chair Adjustment

Admin October 16, 2026

The adjustment methods for mobile office chairs mainly include adjusting the front-back position, height, and other functional adjustments, as follows:

Adjusting the Front-Back Position

The adjustment mechanisms for most conventional ergonomic office chairs are concentrated beneath the seat. Stand to the side of the chair, reach down to find the circular knob or lever at the connection point between the chair legs and the seat, press the knob, and then push the chair forward or backward along the floor to adjust it to the desired sitting distance. Release the knob to automatically lock the new position. For chairs with rolling five-star bases, be careful not to bump into surrounding objects when pushing. For some older fixed-leg office chairs, you may need to first loosen the fixing screws beneath the chair legs, adjust the position, and then tighten them back into place.

Adjusting the Height

  • Method 1: Using Hand Controls
While seated, you can adjust the height by pulling up the corresponding control lever; some models may require turning a knob. If you're unsure which lever controls the height, read the instructions or try each one. Adjust the seat height to a comfortable position, moving it a few inches (or centimeters) at a time, and then return the lever to its original position when finished. For some models, pulling up the lever raises the seat, while pressing it down lowers the seat. Pneumatic models can be adjusted by pumping the lever (pushing it up and down repeatedly) to raise or lower the seat. If you can't adjust it properly while seated, try adjusting from a standing position so that the front of the chair is just below your knees.
  • Method 2: Adjusting According to Work Scenarios
When working on a computer, keep your eyes level with the monitor. If you can't adjust the monitor height, adjust the seat height instead. For desk work, keep your elbows at desk height. When sitting for long periods, rest your feet on the floor and adjust the chair height so that both feet are flat on the floor.
  • Method 3: Adjusting with Armrests
If the chair has armrests, adjust their height. If you don't need arm support, you can remove the armrests or lower them to prevent them from interfering with your knees sliding under the desk. Change your sitting position every 15-30 minutes. If the chair is too high, use a footrest.

Other Adjustments

Taking the Hei Bai Diao E301 as an example, when you stand up and lift the seat cushion, the wired controller on one side of the seat cushion raises the seat; when you sit on the cushion and lift the wired controller again, the seat lowers. Moving the wired controller backward allows you to lean back in the seat; placing it in the middle position locks the recline angle. Pull out the footrest, flip it upward, and place your feet on it to use the footrest function; it can be retracted when not in use. You can also perform multi-dimensional adjustments on the armrests, backrest, lumbar support, and headrest.
