Cleaning Leather Office Chairs
Admin October 09, 2026
Cleaning leather office chairs requires selecting the appropriate method based on the type of stain. Here are the specific steps:

I. Cleaning General Stains
- Using Leather Cleaner: Prepare a sponge, Misscell coconut oil leather cleaner (or another specialized leather cleaner), and a soft cloth. Spray the cleaner evenly on the stain, let it sit for about 3 minutes to allow the cleaner to fully penetrate and break down the stain. Then, gently wipe the stain in one direction along the leather grain with the sponge, avoiding back-and-forth friction that could damage the leather. Promptly absorb any dirty water produced during wiping with a soft cloth. Finally, thoroughly wipe the surface clean with a dry cloth and let it dry in a cool, well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight which can cause the leather to fade or crack.
- Nano Sponge + Laundry Paste Method: Wet the nano sponge and squeeze out excess water. Dip it into an appropriate amount of laundry paste and rub to create foam. Gently wipe the stained area in a circular motion, being careful to control the pressure to prevent the sponge particles from scratching the leather. After wiping, rinse the sponge with clean water and repeat the process until the stain is removed. Finally, dry the surface with a dry cloth. This method is suitable for mild stains, but ensure that the laundry paste does not contain strongly alkaline ingredients to avoid corroding the leather.
II. Cleaning Stubborn Black Stains and Other Stains
- Soap Water Cleaning: Apply a neutral soap evenly to a damp soft cloth and repeatedly wipe the blackened area with even pressure. The alkaline components of the soap can break down greasy stains, but avoid excessive force that could deform the leather. After wiping, rinse the cloth with clean water and repeat the wiping until no foam remains. Finally, absorb any remaining moisture with a dry cloth.
- Hand Cream Removal: The oil components in hand cream can soften stubborn stains. Apply an appropriate amount of hand cream directly to the black stain and rub it in a circular motion with your fingertips for 5-10 minutes to allow the oil to fully penetrate. Then, wipe the surface with a clean cloth. If the stain is not completely removed, repeat the process. This method is suitable for small-area stains, and choose a hand cream without fragrances or pigments to minimize residue.
- Specialized Leather Cleaning Solution: If the chair is made of genuine leather, it is recommended to use a 10% concentration specialized leather cleaning solution. Dilute the cleaning solution and apply it evenly to the stain. Gently wipe the stain with a soft cloth until it dissolves. Specialized cleaning solutions are designed for the characteristics of leather and can effectively remove stains while protecting the leather fibers, preventing them from becoming hard or cracked. After wiping, rinse the cloth with clean water and wipe again to remove any remaining cleaning solution. Finally, dry with a dry cloth.
III. Cleaning Precautions
- Tool Selection: Avoid using rough tools such as steel wool or stiff brushes. Prefer soft materials like sponges and microfiber cloths.
- Moisture Control: After cleaning, promptly wipe off any surface moisture to prevent it from seeping in and causing the leather to mold or become hard.
- Regular Maintenance: It is recommended to perform a deep cleaning every 3-6 months. In daily use, gently wipe away dust with a dry cloth to maintain the leather's luster.
