Leather Material Office Chair

Admin October 19, 2026

Leather material office chairs are more commonly used in executive chairs (boss chairs), with common fabrics including genuine leather and artificial leather (PU leather). There are also leather chairs in computer chairs, and the leather materials are divided into genuine leather and faux leather.

Characteristics of Leather Materials in Executive Chairs

As a representative of high-end office chairs, executive chairs place greater emphasis on the quality and comfort of leather material selection. Genuine leather materials are mainly top-grain cowhide. For example, the Xichang L6 boss chair is covered with top-grain genuine leather. Its advantages lie in its delicate touch, strong breathability, and the texture and elasticity of natural leather, which enhance the user experience and are suitable for office scenarios with long periods of sitting. Artificial leather (PU leather) simulates the texture of leather through chemical synthesis. It has lower costs and is easy to clean and maintain, but its breathability is relatively weak. It is mostly used in office environments that are sensitive to budget or pursue a unified appearance. Some executive chairs adopt a combined design of "genuine leather + PU leather", using genuine leather on contact surfaces (such as the seat cushion and backrest) and PU leather on non-contact surfaces (such as the outer side of the chair back) to balance costs and comfort.

Differences in Leather Materials in Computer Chairs

The selection of leather materials for computer chairs focuses more on functionality and cost-effectiveness. Genuine leather computer chairs are usually only found in high-end models. Their breathability and durability are superior to faux leather, but they are more expensive and require regular maintenance (such as avoiding direct sunlight and regular cleaning and oiling). Faux leather (synthetic leather) is the mainstream choice for computer chairs. It is made through PVC or PU coating processes, has an appearance close to genuine leather but at a lower cost, and has waterproof and stain-resistant properties, making it suitable for fast-paced office scenarios. It should be noted that the breathability of faux leather materials is generally poor, and they may cause a stuffy feeling when used in summer. Some products improve this problem through perforated designs or the addition of breathable layers.

Suggestions for Purchasing Leather Materials

  1. Budget priority: If you pursue ultimate comfort and durability and have a sufficient budget, prioritize choosing top-grain genuine leather office chairs; if you need to control costs, PU leather or faux leather are more cost-effective choices.
  2. Usage scenarios: For long periods of sitting (such as in management offices), genuine leather materials are recommended to enhance comfort; for frequent movement or use in public areas, faux leather materials can be considered for easy cleaning and maintenance.
  3. Material identification: Genuine leather has a natural texture on the surface and recovers quickly after being pressed, with visible fiber layers at the edges; PU leather has a uniform texture but lacks elasticity, with smooth edges and no fibers; faux leather (PVC) feels hard and has the worst breathability.
