Removing the Smell of Instant Noodles from Office Chairs
If instant noodle soup is spilled on an office chair, you can refer to the following methods to remove the smell:

Lemon Juice Wiping Method
If there is little soup residue and the odor is mild, squeeze a small amount of lemon juice onto a damp cloth and wipe the chair surface directly. The citric acid in lemon juice has natural deodorizing and antibacterial properties. After wiping twice, ventilate and air-dry the chair. This method is suitable for leather or smooth-surfaced office chairs and is simple to operate with no chemical residue.Baking Soda + Activated Carbon/Dry Tea Leaves Combination Method (Suitable for Fabric Chairs)
Fabric office chairs, due to their strong water-absorbing properties, require step-by-step treatment:
- Cleaning Stage: Dip a dry cloth into a warm water solution of baking soda (with a ratio of about 1:10) and gently wipe the chair surface, focusing on the stained areas. Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) can decompose odor molecules and neutralize acidic residues.
- Drying Stage: Move the chair to a well-ventilated area and let it air-dry for half a day, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading.
- Adsorption Stage: Place activated carbon bags (1-2 bags per square meter) or dry tea leaf bags inside or under the seat. The porous structure of activated carbon can efficiently adsorb odor molecules, and the natural aroma of dry tea leaves can further neutralize residual odors. It is recommended to replace the adsorbent material every 2-3 days and continue using it until the odor disappears.
Diluted Vinegar Wiping Method
Dilute white vinegar or rice vinegar with water in a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2. Dip a soft cloth into the solution, wring it out until it is semi-dry, and wipe the chair surface (avoid letting the liquid seep into the interior). Acetic acid can neutralize alkaline odors (such as the oxidation products of fats in instant noodle soup) and inhibit bacterial growth. After wiping, use a clean cloth dampened with water for a second cleaning and open the windows for ventilation for 1-2 hours to prevent the lingering of vinegar smell. This method is suitable for leather, plastic, or metal-framed office chairs.Direct Adsorption Method with Activated Carbon Bags
If the odor is more dispersed or still remains after cleaning, place activated carbon bags around, under, or on the seat. Activated carbon removes odors through physical adsorption and is especially suitable for enclosed spaces or long-term use scenarios. It is recommended to place 2-3 bags per square meter and expose them to the sun for regeneration every 1-2 weeks to maintain the adsorption effect.
Precautions:
- Before cleaning, confirm the material of the office chair to avoid using corrosive solutions (such as bleach) that may damage the surface.
- After cleaning fabric chairs, ensure they are thoroughly dried to prevent mildew.
- If the odor persists for more than 3 days, it may indicate deep contamination, and it is recommended to contact professional cleaning services.
