Principle of Hydraulic Office Chair
The hydraulic office chair achieves height adjustment through the principle of a hydraulic jack, with the core being the use of hydraulic system transmission for smooth lifting and lowering. Its working process can be divided into the following steps:

1. Pulling the control lever to drive the hydraulic pump
The bottom of a hydraulic office chair is usually equipped with a control lever (similar to a faucet switch). When the user pulls it, it drives a hidden manual hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump squeezes the hydraulic oil out of the oil reservoir through a mechanical structure, similar to the operation of compressing oil by human force in a manual jack. The oil reservoir is typically located inside the chair base and is responsible for storing hydraulic oil and providing a pressure source for the system.
2. Hydraulic oil pushing the piston for lifting and lowering
The squeezed hydraulic oil enters the hydraulic cylinder through pipes. Inside the hydraulic cylinder, there is a piston structure. The oil pressure pushes the piston to move upward or downward. The piston is mechanically connected to the chair seat, thus driving the entire chair seat to lift or lower. This process utilizes the incompressibility of liquids: when the oil is compressed, the pressure is evenly transmitted to the piston, achieving smooth force transmission. The design of the hydraulic cylinder is usually compact, capable of bearing significant weight while ensuring the stability of the lifting and lowering process.
3. Slowly releasing the force to allow the oil to flow back
When the user releases the control lever, the hydraulic pump stops working. At this time, the oil gradually flows back to the oil reservoir through thin pipes. The design of the thin pipes can control the oil return speed, preventing the chair seat from experiencing shocks due to rapid lowering and thus achieving smooth height adjustment. This process is similar to the pressure relief mechanism of a manual jack, but the hydraulic office chair further enhances the smoothness of operation by optimizing the pipe design.
Core principle and characteristics
The principle of a hydraulic office chair is the same as that of a manual jack, both achieving lifting functions through hydraulic system transmission. Its advantages lie in its compact structure, ability to smoothly lift heavy objects, and direct control of the lifting and lowering process by human force. However, the hydraulic system also has certain limitations: high cost (requiring precision machining of the hydraulic cylinder and seals), complex structure (involving oil circuit design and seal maintenance), and potential oil leakage (aging of seals after long-term use may lead to oil leakage). Therefore, users need to regularly check for oil stains at the bottom of the chair and avoid excessive force when pulling the control lever to extend its service life.
